Here's what was happening in French Lick when I left at around 11. It's kind of really funny to listen to a Jamaican talk about the winter wonderland. LOL

Kentucky 511 Traffic and Travel Information

Both pictures were taken at 4:45pm and it has been snowing harder since then, in Ft/Mitchell/Crescent Springs, Ky.

Roads in BG still just wet....However, my car is a solid iceberg. I hope nothing else freezes as I am really worried about the people in from out of town. Again, be safe.

Took extra 2 hours to get to Benton. 9 wrecks on the way...

Hubby left North of Indy at 7:15 am to drive to L'ville. Sat in traffic jam on I-65 for 2 1/2 hrs North of Columbus, IN. Arrived at son's house 1 pm. He is spending the night.Roads up here are covered with new snow coming down. Weather says another 2 inches.

We got about a quarter-inch of ice it seems before it turned to snow. Looked like it would be a lot worse than it ended up being. Amazingly enough, the scanner was relatively quiet in terms of the number of accidents I would normally expect to hear on a day like this.

 

Seems like everybody was prepared for it, including myself, who picked up a necessary bottle of Henry McKenna single barrel in between trips to the office. Think I'm gonna walk up to the bar after I get done with this drink and the current album selection, "Hernando," by North Mississippi All-Stars. Tonight's a good night for some Beach Boys, really.

Well, it has just started to spit snow here. Maybe it will not be bad for the games tomorrow or ours on Sunday.

Apparently I got really lucky. Left work a little after 6 just off the Erlanger exit. Took 275 east which was SLOW but moving on the hills to the Independence exit. Got on 17 and went about 40 the whole way in my Camry. Got passed by a convington pd SUV and a 4 wheel drive diesel truck. Other than that it was wide open. Drive home usually takes 22 minutes from works parking lot to my driveway and I made it in just over 35 minutes.

 

Sounds like anything inside the 275 loop and north of the river is a mess. Side roads looks bad but the main roads weren't horrible. It certainly helps if you don't have to stop and that's no joke. I only had to stop at three stop lights the whole way home.

So, just chatting with a co-worker on Facebook. Our French Lick Resort Grounds crew have been working non-stop to keep the roads throughout the resort, two hotels' guest parking lots, valet parking lots, and miles of sidewalks and paved paths clear of snow. Some of them have been at it since 2am. There's about 8" of snow there. One eventful turn...They spent a significant number of hours getting a car who somehow wound up on the 9th fairway of one of the golf courses out of there. God love 'em. These guys are really heroes for us. in July there was flash flooding in the town and throughout the resort, and they spent 24 hours cleaning up the mud and debris from throughout the resort properties, including a non-stop marathon clean up of our indoor tennis center. I don't know how they do it. And as far as this particular event is concerned, even if they get done soon...many roads are closed in Orange Co...and they can't get home.
