Cordia being investigated by the KHSAA?

Featured Replies

LOL! So if someone has an opinion that is not in line with yours ten their opinion doesn't matter? LOL!

Don't assume that the KHSAA gets everything correct and that no other schools:coaches ect gets questions asked from others. Just because the KHSAA rules one way doesn't mean that all opposing opinions are wrong.

Your pity party falls on deaf ears. Cordia is only the flavor of the season with regards to scrutiny over perceived rules elongation

To be fair, the crossover is from out of state and probably isn't familiar with the entirety of the KHSAA as we are.

Which makes the argument from that perspective have less teeth if one considers the organization to be effective, efficient and accurate when these issues arise.

I have no problem with a bunch of D1 athletes playing together on a team. I have no problem with kids transferring 100's of miles to a school that provides them with a better situation than they currently have. I have no problem with a coach "attracting" all the talent to one location.

I do have a problem with the team then being eligible for KHSAA competition. The above is a club team, and AAU type group. They should play an independent schedule. Play other academies. Play other prep schools. Heck, play KHSAA teams if you want, but at the end of the season they should not be eligible for KHSAA tournaments or awards. JMHO

Somethings I'd like to know on this one:

1. IS THIS TRUE OR A RUMOR THROWN AROUND BY A "SOURCE" WHOSE METHODS ARE ANALOGOUS TO THE ACCUSATIONS THROWN AROUND ON JERRY SPRINGER?

IF there is truly an investigation then I wonder"

1. What prompted the investigation? Do those who live in glass houses throw rocks?

2. What evidence has been presented other than speculation and hearsay that something is going wrong?

3. Does this even matter for kids who've been there nearly one year and have almost fulfilled the requirement of sitting out that year and will be ready to play this year?

4. Is this really a can of worms that the KHSAA and surrounding schools wants to open given the totality of the circumstances?

5. If the rumor is true, and Cordia is being investigated, is this good or bad for Kentucky High School Ball as a whole?

You've got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahahahahaha
So those in this thread who have no problem with Cordia thinks all schools should be able to get players anywhere they want?

Yes. I have been an advocate of kids transferring without penalty for years.

The only thing that matters is whether they are eligible or not. In this case they are eligible. Opinions won't change that.

That's sour grapes IMO.

Everybody whining is whining because it isn't their school. None of them would be whining if an influx of talent came to their school and was ruled eligible. Not a one of you.

Sour grapes......that's all it is.

I also say that if Cordia wasn't going to be a threat nobody would care either.

That's sour grapes IMO.

Really? Not your most thought out post.

What would I have to be sour about?

I totally agree, but pretending that you follow the rules to the letter of the bylaw is a crock of manure in most cases. And I'm not even talking about Cordia, you know what I'm saying. Fairview was vindicated by the appellate court upholding the injunction, then it comes around to bite them. So much so that they self imposed to prevent the lid from opening a little more. It all comes out in the wash, ask Rose Hill.

But I agree with your premise, I think one transfer for every kid no questions asked, then if you move again, you better not remotely flirt with the gray area of a rule. It'll never happen though.

How many starting guards transferred into NCC in 2011?

How many starting guards transferred into NCC in 2013?

Sorry, I must keep forgetting how different that is.

Don't know how many students lived in the dorms each year and not sure what that really matters. Schools try to fill their dorms to their carrying capacity if I were guessing. They were either full then and are still full now, or they weren't full then and are getting more occupants now, which is probably helping the school more than them sitting empty.

I'm not really concerned about how the kids heard about "that little school in the hills of Eastern Kentucky" and don't think you really understand the attitude that others might see you as presenting when you say things like that. How do kids in the Northern Kentucky area hear about a "tiny school in a section of a place like Newport??? Why would anyone want to go to Newport??? Something must be going on if you can get anyone to move into Newport." See how it sounds when I say that?

On one hand, you seem to imply that there's no reason anyone would ever want to go to Eastern Kentucky when there's another option available because there's just nothing there and it's such an awful place. Then on the other hand, you seem to imply that Cordia does something to try to make themselves more attractive to students and build up a reputation that makes kids want to go there and criticize them for it.

They hear about that school, which is in the same 25 mile radius area of ALL 27 NKY high schools, in the Cincinnati Enquirer and on the TV news.

How do kids in Canada, Texas, Mississippi hear about a tiny school in the mountains of EKY..........I can guarantee not in the newspaper or on TV. And I'm sure they just didn't do a google search and by a stroke of lucky find it either.

I don't think anyone would care if these were students who played basketball and were even just average. I've said a million times that no one is complaining about OBI, which has tons of out of state or international students in their dorms. No one is on here talking about how OBI's kids should be excluded from the KHSAA, even though some are great at sports like soccer and cross country. If we're being realistic, let's face it, the only reason anyone cares is because they are good and might take someone else's spotlight.

I find it funny that no one is complaining when some white kids move to a Catholic school, but when it's some black kids going to a non-public everyone is losing their minds. Those white kids are just fine because they must have wanted to go to where they went because it's a good school after all and they really care about their academics. Those kids, their parents moved them and they must pay more than their share of taxes, right? Oh yea, we'll give them the assumption that their parents can easily pay for that private school everyone in the area knows about and never call that into question too, even though it's been mentioned tons of time for the black kids (after all, we seem to assume the latter's parents paid more than their fair share of taxes and don't mention anything about that; weird, it seems like it is assumed that they probably pay a ton in taxes and still have all kinds of money to send their kids to private school too).

Let's not act like this isn't the case with all the "do they get scholarships???"" and "I don't want my tax money going to…" posts when other posts have talked about kids going to "good" schools that seem pretty expensive for parents just to up and send two kids to, especially after something expensive like moving, with no questions asked. Maybe those schools aren't as good as we think they are or they could charge more or maybe they are getting some kind of "aid" like plenty of other people who regularly go there, but I've never thrown out that assumption because I don't know and really don't care. I'm just pointing out how it seems to be a double standard if we're looking at it objectively.

Fact of the matter is, this is just as realistic as anything else if we're all worried about realism.

Joker, for a Moderator it would be a hell of a lot easier to understand what you are trying to say if you didn't use sentences that are 50-60 words long. Sometimes I think you get so caught up in what you are saying that you forget punctuation.
