Plus the company wasn't bad, has it was a mini BGP "roundtable discussion" along the fence at the scoreboard endzone all game long. The one thing I was wondering all night........What the HELL was the deal with WC's kicking game????????? Do they not have anyone that can kick a ball more than 20 yards down field?????? I think the only time they tried it was the final KO, and that was a different kicker than all the other KO's/Onside kicks. :no: And the onside kick that goes for a TD....INEXCUSABLE, absolute FAIL!!!:wtf: You can't let the Birds start drives at their own 40 yard line. :no:

I'm still in transit but re: kicking game, The starting kick off man, broke his ankle in late september. In fact, they just picked up the placekicker you saw tonight last week. The guy who broke his ankle could consistently put it in the endzone. He was their best wide receiver as well.

So how many Soph's do you think got to play for HHS tonight? Then talk to someone in the know and ask if you saw the best that the class has to offer. Get facts before you start blowing your horn. I know there are several that do not see the field at Highlands that would be three year starters at SK and a lot of other schools.

 

If that's the case, then missing 5 defensive starters shouldn't have been as big a factor. Not trying to be smart at all, but, you constantly hear about how Highlands platoons and are 2 and 3 deep at every position and have guys that'd be 3 year starters at other very good programs that never see the field and then when someone puts up a challenge to them, these same people start making excuses about how many didn't play and how big a difference so and so would make. The same people were defending Hoge(spelling?) and saying how accurate he was, how athletic he was and several other high praises and then you hear, well our starting QB didn't play either and how much of a difference that'd make. That is a weak argument or excuse, when you score 70 points. He certainly did his part. The issue is giving up 69 points to a 5-5 team that hasn't scored like that all year, even against much lesser competition, teams that couldn't beat Highlands JV team and maybe not even there freshman team. If this were a one game situation, I'd probably write it off as an anomaly or something, but, the same thing has happened on several occasions this year, where the D, at times, got manhandled. PT, Bryan Station, J.Hardin and now WC all had quite a bit of success offensively. In saying this, I do think HHS is the clear cut favorite to win it all in 4A because there offense is fantastic and not sure anyone in 4A can slow them down enough to beat them, but, I do think there may be some chinks in the armor on the other side of the ball. WC has some speed and some good athletes, but, they're not near what they've been the past 2-3 years, especially from a depth standpoint. I have a hard time excusing getting outscored 62-29 after getting out to that big lead, regardless who was playing. This was not an Elder or Colerain on the other side of the ball tonight.

Ok, its Friday night and for the record I would have been in bed earlier but I'm a slow reader. Wow what a thread and what a game. Learned long ago that Dale has a method to his madness. Thought that Hoge had a nice game. Has some zip on that ball. Moves and has confidence. As for the defense, I saw some young guys go up against an very fast team. Would love to see the offensive yards for #6. And what was going on with the QB hand in the 4th? Was he really hurt or was he pulling an "Elder"? He kept complaining for about 5 or 6 plays and the coaches really didn't show concern and the trainer didn't even check him out. Next thing you know, he is tucking and running to get a first and throwing and "touchdown". You would have thought his hand was broken. Of course this occurred when WC had one and then none time outs left. Like I said earlier, liked seeing some of the younger D play. A favorite was Schoepf. He got PO'd about the same time I did. Loved the spirit and he is going to be a fun player to watch next year.
