I will tell you this much. Highlands better wake up. Collins has the speed that WC has and Collins also has a pretty good passing game.

The defense that played Elder at the Pit last week and the defense that played WC tonight were completely different.

 

If this score gives those future opponents on the HHS schedule hope, so be it. They can hope that Abner, Urlage, Bardo, and Wrobleski remain sidelined. Otherwise they are in for a rude awakening.

Hoge played the entire game at QB. Not sure of his stats, but they were huge I am sure.

 

Not sure where Skinner gets his information to put that Austin Hergott was starting tonight.

 

Harris ran the ball really well. His seond or third effort on a run was the play that sealed the game for the Birds

 

Not sure who all was out on the D-Line or LB's, but DB's were definitely playing with guys that played in the JV game against Elder last week.

 

The only time it was in doubt was when Warren Central scored to draw within 2 with about 2 minutes to play in game. Tried an onside kick that went out of bounds and Zack Harris ran three straight times to gain 10.5 yards and it was ballgame. Warren Central had burned all of their timeouts at that point.

 

Doubt it. More like 2 weeks at a minimum. Playing Boyd County should enable the Birds to get a running clock and get their JV and Frosh into the game early.

 

Maybe it's a difference in opinion, but I'm gonna say there was some 'doubt' when Warren Central got the ball to start their drive which could have led to them being down by 2 and getting an onside kick, especially given the huge deficit they'd erased and momentum they must have had.

SK would have beat WC by 20!

Ask around your peeps like OB and the like and see what they have to say. Several would see extended minutes at SK. I know what I am talking about on this one and just telling it like it is.

 

SK is legit. They're not as talented as HHS but HHS sophs aren't playing in front of hardly, if any, in Independence.

Tonight a couple people asked my son if he wanted to play for Highlands and he gladly said he will play for SK!

I was asked and answered it honestly, just like I said I was going to do.

Here's where I diverge in my opinion.

 

This game is dangerous for Highlands because if nothing else, it plants the seed in the heads of future opponents that a 5-5 Warren Central went on the road and only lost to the mighty, invincible Highlands (a reputation that they've well earned in 4A… even back to their days in 3A… so, just to be clear, I'm not saying that sarcastically or in jest).

 

Now teams who are the "hunters" like Johnson Central, Covington Catholic, Boyle County, Collins, etc. are going to have a HUGE mental hurdle removed when they see the "hunted" (i.e., Highlands) as vulnerable and wounded. Think about what's going through the player's minds in pre-game two weeks ago before they play Highlands as compared to what will be going through team's minds now when they have this score as motivation and something that erases some of the doubt that might have lingered in the back of their mind.

 

Taking this a step further, think about how teams will react when Highlands jumps out to a 14-0 lead now knowing that Warren Central staged a huge comeback against them.

 

Make no doubt about it, this one hurts Highlands for these reasons if nothing else.

 

Thats all well in good what they think but reality is what it is. You know as well as I do you are going to have to score at least 50 to beat HHS in the playoffs and the D is much better than what they showed tonight. This D is not what the rest of 4A is going to face. They are in for a rude awakening.

Not much to talk about Clyde. Highlands jumped out to a 41-7 lead and subbed a bunch.

 

People look at the score and think it was close. But it really wasn't. Highlands rested half their defense.

 

Trolls are out in force tonight

 

If I'm a troll for questioning why a team that many regard as the #1 or #2 team in the state regardless of class only beats a 5-5 team by 2 points, then I'm glad to be called a 'troll'.

 

If the roles were reversed and this were Simon Kenton not beating Campbell County (whose probably better than Warren Central, at least according to some rankings) badly enough, I feel there'd be a lot of 'overrated' howling.
