You can make the claim it wasn't as close if it seems if it ends as a 2 TD loss and was a 35 point lead. But you can't use it when a team wins by 2. That's cause for legitimate concern.

The score was 71 to 69 with 2:05 left all WC had to do was stop Highlands from getting a first down and time ran out.

Basically what you just said was Highlands only has about 30 kids that can actually play out of a roster of 96?

 

And how did you figure that? There are numerous kids that could get on the field and do quite well but they are in a position that gets them no time and there are others where the position is not strong and those kids thus get to play.

No, even so this was the #10 ranked team in 5A... BG held them to 14, and I can presume BG also had "underclassmen" in as well for the second half.

The game so only in doubt if HHS would not have recovered the onside kick at the 2 minute mark, or not gotten the 1 first down to ice the game.

 

It was obvious that the kids being asked to fill in tonight playing defense could not match the speed or strength of the WC group. As another poster said, this was not the same unit that battled Elder to end last week.

 

Bright spot- the play of Seth Hope. He had many tackles tonight. Some were 20 yards downfield chasing ball carriers down from behind. WC was best served by running wide, when they got the corner - it was over.

 

Disappointed in HHS offense in the 4th qtr. It seemed to stall a bit. Punted once, settled for a field goal, and turned it over on downs inside the WC 10. We get so used to watching them finish drives with TDs that getting no points is a let down.

 

Not sure where Skinner gets his information to put that Austin Hergott was starting tonight.
