Funny things is Birdsfan looked it up the last time SK played Highlands the score was 28 to 12.

Just saying in general, not a diss on Highlands; but just about every kid in the area has plan a: their nearby high school or plan b: Highlands. It's not a bad thing, it's actually a good thing Highlands has that prestige.

The thought of going to Highlands would make many kids in the area vomit...

 

Highlands does things the right way. They have tradition. They have dedicated kids. They have dedicated coaches. They develop talent as good as any school in the country. That is why Highlands wins.

So how many Soph's do you think got to play for HHS tonight? Then talk to someone in the know and ask if you saw the best that the class has to offer. Get facts before you start blowing your horn. I know there are several that do not see the field at Highlands that would be three year starters at SK and a lot of other schools.

 

I would take SK starters before I took a Highlands starter.

Concern for what?......So Warren Centrals offense is 39 points better than Elders....no that wasnt the same HHS team on D....lord people it was 41-7 at one point. I give WC credit they played hard for 4 quarters but if they played next week running clock if they want.

 

Here's where I diverge in my opinion.

 

This game is dangerous for Highlands because if nothing else, it plants the seed in the heads of future opponents that a 5-5 Warren Central went on the road and only lost to the mighty, invincible Highlands (a reputation that they've well earned in 4A… even back to their days in 3A… so, just to be clear, I'm not saying that sarcastically or in jest).

 

Now teams who are the "hunters" like Johnson Central, Covington Catholic, Boyle County, Collins, etc. are going to have a HUGE mental hurdle removed when they see the "hunted" (i.e., Highlands) as vulnerable and wounded. Think about what's going through the player's minds in pre-game two weeks ago before they play Highlands as compared to what will be going through team's minds now when they have this score as motivation and something that erases some of the doubt that might have lingered in the back of their mind.

 

Taking this a step further, think about how teams will react when Highlands jumps out to a 14-0 lead now knowing that Warren Central staged a huge comeback against them.

 

Make no doubt about it, this one hurts Highlands for these reasons if nothing else.

Ok… so Highlands jumps out and subs. Does that mean Warren Central should quit playing? Looks like Warren Central came back, and in a big way. I'm guessing some Highlands starters played once that lead got narrowed down.

 

I dont think thats the debate...WC shouldnt quit playing but some people on here some how think HHS got worse tonight and WC got better and thats not the case.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Dial that enthusiasm down a bit. If a soph isn't seeing the field this year he's not starting at SK this year.

 

Ask around your peeps like OB and the like and see what they have to say. Several would see extended minutes at SK. I know what I am talking about on this one and just telling it like it is.
