That said I do have an issue with Scott and SK both being ahead of Male. Male has payed a much stronger schedule then either of those schools.

The simple fact of the matter is, the teams that everyone is used to seeing at the top didn't take care of their part. Don't kill the messenger. They didn't get it done. But, some other teams, albeit playing a weak schedule, did their part. They move up, the other move down. I'm fine with it.

All these weeks and no one had a problem with Scott County at #2. Now you're supposed to drop them to #5 because the teams in the super-district played round robin? Is Scott County not the team that almost (and should've) knocked off Trinity last year? If you're taking potshots at Simon Kenton' date=' that's one thing, but I find it strange that people are coming out of the woodwork to condemn Scott County more all of a sudden.[/quote']

If you tossed the top 7 in a hat, pulled them out and called it a ranking, you would have some posters agree and most posters disagree. That's basically the issue with 6A this season.

This is 6A guys. Respect and rankings should be earned. Beating up on average to below average competition gets you ranked somewhere in the lower half of the top ten. JMO

I have no problems with this. Here are some super district notes to consider

 

MALE- most athletic of all 4 teams. Youngest of all 4 teams. I will be interested to see how they respond after last weeks loss to an older manual team and with stress of playoffs

 

TRINITY- not the Trinity of old, but still very well coached and always primed for playoffs. Bonnafon is a huge deal, and without him they would look much, much different.

 

St Xavier- Lost to Trinity and Male without their best skill player. Not sure if the coaching is there to get them over the hump, but they have 40+ Seniors on this team and it is time to take over. Not sure if they have it in them... They miss their coach G

 

Manual- looks a lot like St Xavier, with sr. Leaders and great skill players. Maybe a too few ?

 

I think all 4 teams are better than SK... I think all 4 have played a much more difficult schedule than Scott County or SK. Scott County is the one putting up all the big numbers.

 

Don't know much about McCracken County or O Boro.

 

I think a slight edge to Scott, then you can mix up the super district in any fashion you want, then SK. Then all others

I normally agree on strength of schedule, but SOS is a good thing when you beat the good teams on your schedule. And the perennial top ranked teams have not done that very well.

So Henderson just needed to play Webster Co instead of Covington Cath and I could have claimed the Western Colonels to be the best team in 6A. At least up until they had to play McCracken. Maybe Coach Lewis needs to drop those two teams from Evansville so we can also get Muhlenburgh and Union Co back on the schedule. If strength of schedule means nothing then I say we load it up with guaranteed wins so we can be claim to be #1 as well.

Take a closer look at the losses to the teams from Louisville outside of district.

 

Trinity - has losses to Indy Cathedral, Colerain, and Ensworth.

 

St X - to Bowling Green.

 

Male and Manual to no one outside their own district.

 

If you want to drop any of these 4 teams from the top of the rankings for those losses, or better yet for losses to each other, well :idunno:

 

 

 

If anything the losses show the parity amongst these four, nothing else.

Unfortunately taking the top 7 still leaves out the Mustangs! This should simply serve as motivation for the playoffs. No one can guarantee a Mustangs/Pioneers semi here in Paducah, but I'd love to see us lowlanders get a shot against the Cincy suburbs!!

This; 1,000 times this.

 

You have Trinity and others loading up on GCL schools and some of Tennessee and Indiana's best, and you have 6A Simon Kenton playing Holy Cross and NewCath. Those schools are four classes below them. To value that undefeated record with anything more than a smirk and a wink is just burying your head in the sand. Play CovCath and Highlands, cross the river and play a GCL school or at least a Lakota West / Colerain / Winton Woods.

 

Scott Co. may well be the #1 team in the state in the big school class, but to say SK is the 2nd best is laughable. I'm not convinced they are the #2 team in Northern KY (all classes) for Heaven's sake.

Swish, Mayfield would still give them all they want and then some. Just because some on here from Mfd have stated they feel McCracken is a more talented team and that they wouldn't want to play them again, doesn't mean they'd automatically lose to them. The Stangs still have question marks on D and Mfd would still score a lot of points on them and the game would likely be very similar to the 1stmeeting.
