Two teams on SC schedule that I think turned bad for them, which upon scheduling I think were looked at as possibly tougher opponents, were Ryle and PRP. PRP was coming off a 6A state title game loss and Ryle was in its third year after a state title loss. I'm not saying that I know what was going on with the schedule, but my theory is that SC thought Ryle would be rebuilt after three years (especially with 19 seniors and 25 juniors) and that PRP would be solid as well. Not the case, as both turned out below average, and coupled with GRC, North Hardin and Seneca make for a pretty weak schedule. I don't have a problem playing any Lexington schools, even though they've been down as a whole for a bit now too.

 

With that being said, SC didn't play anyone last year either outside of Highlands, which was a blowout, then took T down to the wire and IMO should have won. Do I think the loss to Highlands played into the T game? NOT AT ALL.

 

A good game plan and in-game adjustments, along with good athletes did that. I don't think a loss to Highlands in week two gave SC what it took to hang with T in week 15.

 

SOS shouldn't be ignored, but I don't think it's the end-all-be-all of measuring sticks.

 

You play who you play, and SC could have easily shot itself in the foot several times this year, but hasn't so far. Maybe they are that good and that no matter who they would've played they would beat? Idk if that's true or not, so I'll leave it to the actual games to give us the answer.

 

The top 7 teams in 6A all have a shot to win I think, which hasn't been the case in year's past. Personally, I'm a fan of a seemingly wide-open race.

I'll say this about Scott Co...while their schedule is pretty freaking bad for a team that wants to be taken serious as a 6A contender, they have pretty much pounded everyone they've played. So it's not like their playing weak teams and barely getting by. Do we know how good they really are, no. But I based on everyone else I think they are definitely top 3. And other then the SOS you really can't make an argument against them being #1. Would they be undefeated playing T's schedule, no but neither is T.

And at the end of the day, if Scott is the best they will have every chance to prove it. If they make it BG they will earn it.
