  1. Pun can flat out play. Cards with more weapons, though.
  2. Scott County: Trey Binder - Campbellsville University Dylan Smith - Georgetown College Tyler Dummer - Georgetown College Ethan VanderMarliere - Bluffton University.
  3. Lake Brantley beat Holmes in the Toyota Classic. It was reported wrong to KHSAA. Lafayette did not participate.
  4. … or what's left of it. Saturday action: 1:30 p.m. Scott County boys vs Saunders NY 3:30 p.m. Lake Brantley Fla vs Wayne County Winner and losers will likely play each other on Sunday.
  5. 1:30 p.m. Scott County boys vs Saunders NY 3:30 p.m. Lake Brantley Fla vs Wayne County winner and losers will likely play each other on Sunday.
  6. I'm not 100% sure but I do not remember seeing Mason Alstatt as a voting option for RB. There's a lot of nominations for each position, so I could have missed over him… He was for sure an option for Mr. Football, but I don't remember seeing him as an option for RB.
  7. You seem to be basing it off stats. That's OK. Statistically there were several other kids who were better. You are right.
  8. Scott County is playing Knoxville Central in the King of the Smokies Christmas Classic in Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee which begins on Monday. Actually being played right now.
  9. And my argument was that in those six games, Trey Binder's play was all-state worthy.
  10. Could you give me the names of some of the kids you think he leapfrogged? I would like to do my due-diligance and look at them. Because I'm not familiar with all the names. Also, is the award based on your career body of work? I didn't think that was the case, but maybe I'm wrong.
  11. Did you see Trey Binder play? I watched him play 13 games this year and would put him up against any D-lineman in the state. You mention that he only had 30 tackles… 25 of those came in the last six games when he was a starter on defense. The other 7 games, Trey started at offensive guard, playing defense in sparingly substitution situations. You mentioned Wilde as a no-brainer. His numbers were 60 tackles in 14 games. Not a huge difference when you consider the amount of snaps he played on the defensive side compared to Binder's. Both kids deserve a hand for what they did this year, but to completely dismiss Trey Binder as an all-state candidate based on his stats, is misleading and wrong, IMO.
  12. What impressed me most about Rode was that he played the entire second half with four fouls, scoring 23 of his 26 points. Tre King fouled out with only 8 points late in the third quarter. He was pretty much a non-factor - had all 8 points in the first half. SC's bigs really corralled him all night. LCA only managed 2 points in the first quarter, and could not whatsoever handle Scott County's defensive pressure. Eagles had 17 turnovers at half. SC's biggest hurdle this year will be offensively. They could not buy a basket in first half. The Cards' 10-2 lead at the end of the first should have been about 20-2 or 25-2 with the amount of layups and putbacks they got, but missed. 61 fouls called in the game. Refs were zeroed in from the tip.
  13. Here's what went down: SCHS up big late in 4th, puts in JV on offense against HC varsity defense. On very first play, took a big loss and completely botched the play. McKee immediately called for Varsity offense and blasted his JV kids. SC gets off a run or two, then on fourth down the Cards tried a reverse pass which was unsuccessful for a large loss. HC players started yelling about the play call but take over on offense. On next Blue Devil snap, SC blitzes in for a big sack. HC then runs clock down to 1 second, calls time out and walks off without shaking hands. SC sees what's happening, starts to walk over to shake hands and instead the two coaching staffs meet in middle, there's some confrontation, players on both sides start talking heavily and eventually both teams had to be seperated. No punches thrown and nothing serious happened, but it could have gotten pretty ugly. It was tense for a few moments. This is as heated a rivalry as I've seen (especially from Scott County's POV) and tonight, at the end, both teams tempers flared. Not good looks on either side. Won't bash either side, bc I think both teams screwed up a bit in handling the last two minutes or so.
  14. I was just at Cincinnati Elder a few weeks ago, and it seats around 10,000 in a bowl shape. Was as impressive of a high school stadium as I've seen!!
  15. Keith Guy's stats through five games: 68 carries / 642 yards - 12 TDs - 128.4 ypg Number would no doubt be higher, but SCHS has three other running backs in the Wing-T that have combined for 1,018 yards on 120 carries.
  16. Per McKee, Highlands coach said QB took a hard tackle last week and that if it was a playoff game he would have played.
  17. I'm hoping for another good game. First half last week was very exciting. Kudos to Pulaski County, who brought by far the biggest fan bases to the game that I've seen in my time here. Expecting another good one this week.
  18. The fumble was huge from what I remember. The RB had broke a long, long run. Interception was a bad mistake by a sophomore QB. Was standing right there. HHS def had its way after that.
  19. Stand corrected. My math was off. Only think Keith Guy saw action that year. They do have two freshman starting this year. First time since 2008.
  20. Agree about Lex Cath. From 2003-2008 they did play, but SCHS only had one win. No games since, though. Could be one of those where neither side wants to play anymore. Idk.
  21. The game in 2012, was a complete culture shock to SCHS. I've never seen the kids look like that since. I can't really get a keen grasp on this Friday's game, but several of the guys who are seniors got embarrassed that night. Revenge factor is usually overrated and has no bearing, but it will still be there.
  22. The two things I have gotten from him this season are a mixture of not being able to find games (don't think he or SC is a fan favorite for opposing teams to play lol) and him realizing that his team was never truly tested. And it cost them last year. My fourth year covering the football team every day in season and I think I've only seen six games where the varsity was playing in the fourth quarter. Trinity (2012) Highlands (2012), Male (2013) Henry Clay (2013) and Meade County twice (2013, 2014). Everyone loves blowouts, but there's a lot to be said mentally about being in a dog fight in the fourth. And I think he's finally owned up to that. ** Edit ** Actually, Highlands in 2012 was a blowout too, so that one doesn't count. But I forgot the lost to Bryan Station last year. So still six.
  23. Putting pressure on a soph QB won't win the game. I've never seen a SCHS quarterback throw more than 10 times in a game, no matter the opponent. McKee will run, run, run and then run some more. If Highlands stops the run, they win. Plain and simple.
  24. My under the radar pick for a breakout year will be Keith Guy - SR RB - Scott County. I look for Cards to feed him heavily and possibly with a nice season he'll move up in a lot of people's rankings. Still looking for his first D1 offer so I know that carries its own stigma but I assume he'll get something soon.
