  1. Also big kudos to the GRC QB Sharrock - he made a bunch of great throws, and is tough as nails. Kid has taken a beating this year but got back up every play. His WR made some great catches too. They physically out-manned SC's secondary for most of the first half too.
  2. GRC came out in five wide and empty backfield almost 98% of the game. Maybe even every play. Completely threw SC off balance in the first half. It also didn't help that the defense was on the field almost the entire half, either. They for sure got winded. SC intercepted the first throw from scrimmage for a TD, then had scoring drives of 2:46, 1:03, :34, :56 in the first half. (Final Time of Possession was 30-18 in favor of GRC.) But halftime adjustments we're made and GRC only threw for 55 yards in the second half with 30 coming on one play in the third Q. If SC has one weakness it's in the secondary, but so far nobody they've played has been able to slow down their offense or stop them from making plays in special teams - had a KR for TD, blocked punt and blocked XP. A rematch with Bryan Station and their passing attack might be able to test SC and if BS can make a few stops on defense then it could be a game next week.
  3. Cox was held out against Collins and the starting QB didn't play much more. AC is a different team without both players and while Collins is a great team, the score probably would've been a bit closer had they played. Prob still a loss though. Cox is good for 14 points and 100 yards or so each game, and Carmichael is a weapon bc he can run in the designed plays and when the pocket breaks down. Take any team in the state's best two players out and they suffer a bit. I'll go Anderson 35-14 against Cooper.
  4. Daniel is out for now. Hairline fracture in tibia. In a walking boot and crutches. I've heard 3 weeks. You can see the picture of his X-ray on twitter if you search his account, and while there is definitely a fracture, It's not a huge one. But he did return a kickoff 81 yards last Friday while hurt, so hopefully it can heal for his sake. Even though SC passes only like 5x a game, he's their best player and now if he's out I think teams will stack 10 guys in the box to stop the run. I think SC can survive the first three games without him if they advance, but the biggest hit will be on defense. Daniel is the only player who plays both ways every play and he's their best man coverage corner. They played zone for the first time I've seen all year last week against Seneca and there are holes if the opposing QB can get time.
  5. My biggest problem with this rule isn't about potential comebacks being negated, but that on each side it limits the backups and bench players who have put in a lot of hard work in practice from getting extended minutes. It should be all about the kids. Sadly it isn't.
  6. This may have already been addressed (apologies if so) but hypothetically if Trinity (or anyone other than Male) were to make it to the regional finals and so did Scott County from the other side , who would have home field advantage? Since SC is a No. 1 seed would they host as long as they didn't play another No. 1 seed? Or does the Region 3 host Region 4 no matter who is playing? Clarification would be great.
  7. Two teams on SC schedule that I think turned bad for them, which upon scheduling I think were looked at as possibly tougher opponents, were Ryle and PRP. PRP was coming off a 6A state title game loss and Ryle was in its third year after a state title loss. I'm not saying that I know what was going on with the schedule, but my theory is that SC thought Ryle would be rebuilt after three years (especially with 19 seniors and 25 juniors) and that PRP would be solid as well. Not the case, as both turned out below average, and coupled with GRC, North Hardin and Seneca make for a pretty weak schedule. I don't have a problem playing any Lexington schools, even though they've been down as a whole for a bit now too. With that being said, SC didn't play anyone last year either outside of Highlands, which was a blowout, then took T down to the wire and IMO should have won. Do I think the loss to Highlands played into the T game? NOT AT ALL. A good game plan and in-game adjustments, along with good athletes did that. I don't think a loss to Highlands in week two gave SC what it took to hang with T in week 15. SOS shouldn't be ignored, but I don't think it's the end-all-be-all of measuring sticks. You play who you play, and SC could have easily shot itself in the foot several times this year, but hasn't so far. Maybe they are that good and that no matter who they would've played they would beat? Idk if that's true or not, so I'll leave it to the actual games to give us the answer. The top 7 teams in 6A all have a shot to win I think, which hasn't been the case in year's past. Personally, I'm a fan of a seemingly wide-open race.
  8. 70-24 Scott County. Cards just better at every phase - defends bends, but won't break and offense can't be stopped. Blocked punt for safety, and two kick returns for a TD.
  9. Not so much. 64-24 Scott County start of 4th Q.
  10. Anderson County vs Shelby County was a great rivalry until the school's split.
  11. That is correct, Elijah Bell had success against SC's ones early on, but I'd be hard pressed to see any team in the state contain that kid to zero yards. Bell broke two huge runs early and had a 72-yard pass out of the backfield for a TD. There's 260 or so of those yards right there. The other kid Jackson is no slouch either and squirted loose for a few big ones. But HC had 230 or so yards in the second half when SC was subbing on defense and leading by at least three scores. When SC was backed into the corner leading 28-20 with HC on the 13-yard line looking to score the defense made a pick in the endzone, and then the offense scored two TDs in the final 2 min. of the half. The schedule weakness is spot-on, and I agree wholeheartedly that until someone in this state beats T they are top dogs. But IMO SC should not be counted out as a contender.
  12. So by this logic Highlands High School should not be the favorite to win 5A because they gave up 455 yards of offense to Bryan Station (3-3)? Or is the standard different...
