  1. Ryle QB with a bomb, and a great catch from the WR (Hill, I think). 49-14. Running clock.
  2. And just like that McKee finds Daniel on a 52-yard pitch and catch TD. 42-7 Cards.
  3. Ryle adds a score. 35-7 with 10:29 to go.
  4. Cards add another TD. SC leads 35-0 with time running down in the third quarter.
  5. McKee hooks up with Daniel again for the score. 28-0 Scott County. Cards have scored 21 points in a little less than 8 minutes.
  6. Clay McKee to Scott Daniel for a TD. SC 21-0.
  7. Scott County stops Ryle on Raiders' first drive of second half - forces a punt - Scott Daniel with the 58-yard TD return. SC 14-0.
  8. Scott County 7-0 at the half. Two penalties have negated two first-half touchdowns from Scott County. Ryle defense making the Cards work for it.
  9. Glen Drury - Anderson County (Maybe not top a mortal lock for top 5, but he hovers around it year in, and year out, IMO).
  10. Anderson 34 Danville 28. Nice back and forth affair.
  11. Scott County led 23-7 after three quarters of Varsity action. Central JV scored a TD in the fourth. Scott County's Scott Daniel returns opening kick-off back 90 yards for TD. Then Clay McKee to Scott Daniel on a 99-yard pass and catch TD. Central's offense was not able to run the ball very well, but had some nice passes. Central QB has a nice arm, and broke contain a few times with some nice runs. But Scott County's defense was pretty tough - Blocked punt and blocked XP. Several sacks and a fumble recovery. It's still quite early, but SC's offense doesn't look as potent as last year. More of a grind it out team. Central has a lot of team speed... if they can get in the open field, they will do really well. Just wasn't happening last night.

  13. If you can get this to work properly, the highlights speak for themselves. Video seemed to work after the first 17 seconds. Scott Daniel - Highlight Videos, Schedule & Roster - Hudl Just a complete football player. Very Savy. The red-zone fade is pretty automatic with Scott. Didn't see a DB that SCHS played who could stop him one on one last year. His ability to go up and make the catch is uncanny for a kid his size. In SCHS' toughest games last year, two losses to Highlands and Trinity, Scott actually looked like he belonged on the field with the state's best players. He wasn't over shadowed at all, and actually made a decent case for being the best player on the field at times. Official offers from Wofford and Lindsey Wilson, but interest growing from Toledo, EKU, WKU, Ball State. Neal Brown and UK have also been to SCHS several times since arriving in Lex.
  14. Nick Cann, the older brother of MacKenzie Cann and Anderson County assistant, has taken the LCA job. Just read an article in the Anderson paper. Cann was also an assistant at Lex Cath for a year. Getting a job opportunity without submitting a resume doesn't happen very often, so Nick Cann had to make a change of plans when it did. Cann, who has worked with the Anderson County girls' basketball program as an assistant coach five of the last six seasons, has left for Lexington Christian Academy, where he was named head coach last Monday. It's an opportunity Cann, felt he could not turn down, especially since he wasn't looking to move. “I hadn't applied for the job,” said Cann, who accepted the chance to run his own program for the first time last Monday. “Around Memorial Day, I got a call from one of the LCA board members. I really wasn't looking for any other job.” Cann had expected to be running the Anderson County Middle School program upon the resignation of Clay Birdwhistell, who has been hoping to work exclusively with the Lady Bearcat varsity. What will happen with the Lady Mustang program now remains to be seen. Cann had also expected to be part of an Anderson program that will not only be the favorite to repeat its Eighth Region championship, but should be one of the teams in the mix for the state championship. The Lady Bearcats advanced to the state semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Marion County in March. “It was not an easy decision at all,” Cann said. “(The expectations) made it hard. Part of it is that I have been working with the Anderson kids since they were in middle school. “The other thing, obviously, is family ties.” Cann's younger sister, Makenzie, was a first team all-state selection last season and is expected to be one of the contenders for the state's Miss Basketball award next year. She will be staying at Anderson County for her senior year. “It would get me run out of town if she were to come with me,” Nick Cann quipped. In taking over the Lexington Christian program, Cann replaces Jason Seamands, who is remaining at the school as a teacher. Seamands led the Eagles to a state champioship in 2007. The program also produced a Miss Basketball, Sarah Beth Barnette, in 2010. Read more at: GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Cann, the coach, leaving Lady Bearcat program for LCA | TheAndersonNews.com
  15. I have no clue other than the small conversation I had where the assistant coach spoke about "a big kid from Charlotte" not enjoying Trinity. Just said he stopped in on his way back and they felt good about him coming in. No details on who he is staying with, or why he decided to stop in Scott Co.
  16. I have heard about this too, per an assistant coach. Also heard he was supposed to go to Trinity, but after a a few days he ended up not liking it there so on his way home he stopped in Scott County. Kid does look like he's in college already, lol. If he becomes eligible, along with sharpshooters Trent Gilbert and Henry Clay transfer Teddy Ware, SC should be another top team in the 11th this year.
  17. Have been looking for a list of past winners, but no luck. Here's a breakdown of the teams that participated: Perry Co. Central Scott Co. Cordia LCA Harlan Co. W. Jessamine Lafayette Franklin Co. Southwestern Sheldon Clark Henry Clay Apollo Lawrence Co. Dunbar Bryan Station Rowan Co. Breathitt Co. Hazard Johnson Central Fleming Co. Woodford Co. Berea N. Laurel Whitley Co Pulaski Co East Jessamine
  18. I do a lot of reading on here, but not much posting. So I was wondering what everyone thinks about this - the Kentucky state High School AAU Tournament - it was this past weekend at KBA. Scott County won the title, posting a 7-0 record in pool play and the elimination bracket. Beat Henry Clay, Cordia and Perry County Central en route to championship. Trent Gilbert was named tournament MVP - 37 points in finals against PCC (He averaged 25-30 pts for the tourney). I guess my questions are this: How much of an indicator can this be about the upcoming winter season? Can you even start to judge teams this early in the summer? Really, I just wanted to gauge everyone's general thoughts, negatives or positives etc. etc.
  19. Quin Richardson had 23 points, on 14-of-15 shooting from the free throw line. He went 11-of-11 from the line in the later part of the fourth. Trent Gilbert had 20 points.
  20. How did the 6'9" kid from the Netherlands look? Bunschoten is the last name... He originally tried to suit up for Scott County High School this year. Just curious about his talent level...
  21. These guys (mostly Canadians) were originally enrolled in Scott County High School. Taking classes and practicing there. They played games around the Midwest and also played Georgetown's JV a few times, I think. Up until the Christmas holiday they were a mainstay in the SCHS gym and at games. They have now relocated to Breathitt County High School along with Bunschoten, who was denied eligibility to play at SCHS this year.
  22. I could throw out a random number but honestly it would be a guess. Not trying to start any rumors or anything, but just remember him standing right in front of me and saying this to the guy inbounding. I do remember it being a guard, because once Hatton passed it back, whoever it was assumed the point guard role on the play.
  23. I was sitting court side last night taking pictures and distinctly remember BH standing in the back court late in the third quarter waiting on the inbounds pass and saying "He doesn't want me shooting, so I won't." The ball was inbounded to BH and he just smacked it back to the guy inbounding, who brought it up the court. I remember thinking to myself, "well that was strange..." Until I noticed he didn't play any of the fourth and wasn't playing like he was against Montgomery County the night before. Odd.
