Much like College Football has a Watch List for the major individual awards, I say we put together the Un-Official Watch List for the State's Most Prestigious Award:

 

We will pick 20 Players for This List:

 

I will start by nominating 12 Players I feel are "Can't Miss" options for such a list. It is very important to consider what we feel is the criteria/variables that usually dictate who wins the award:

 

- Typically the player is a Senior.. Juniors have been finalists, but as far as I know a Senior has won every Mr. Football. Only exemplary Juniors will be considered.

 

- Mr. Football is most often NOT a lineman or a Punter/Kicker. Once again, exemplary cases are worthy of a watch list.

 

- Mr. Football most often has prospects of playing at the next level. There have been many small school super stars who excel against weaker competition and put up mindblowing stats who never even warranted Finalists recognition.

 

- Mr. Football favors winning programs.

Does Jackson deserve a Top 20 and a watch list? Maybe... but a linemen from a school that loses a lot of games and may not make the playoffs is a heavy obstacle to move.

Understood...you said 'favors' a winning program so I thought we may have left the door open. I'm a firm believer it should be the best player in the state. Pretty big honor to be recognized on a national level at the Opening in front of a national audience on ESPN. Something like that in addition to Army All American honors should at least get you on the watch list.

Drake Jackson definitely belongs on this list, if not the number one candidate, especially after his performance at The Opening last week. He was also named Top 5 OL at the showcase.

Joquise Buford would be a better candidate from Henry Clay than Robinson imo. Just take the linemen off they will not win.

U can have the best or. Even nunber one lineman in the country but they can't win any games ? If he can do it against the best in the nation during camp season. Why does his team loose an loose bad almost every week?
