Both web sites show the game between HHS and CCH as Away Games???

 

 

Do you know why? Because the first game was supposed to be played today at HHS and the second game at CCH.. The varsity game was played at CCH on Saturday so the JV game would logically be played at HHS today...:thumb:

Sorry - I made a TYPO - the CCH web site shows the game at Home and I typed Away in Error - Sorry.

What are we trying to establish by posting the schedules of the JV teams. Most that are truly in the know at HHS have told you repeatedly that they were scheduled to play each other twice this year as they have done some in past years. They were scheduled to play tonight at HHS and that game was cancelled 2 weeks or so ago by CovCath. The second game was also on the schedule and has not recently been added. Agree with many on here that the young kids would like the opportunity to play and show that they can compete as well. 5 and 7 games respectively is not getting that done IMO.

I first noticed that this game had been taken off the CovCath web schedule over a month ago, and I am not sure if it was ever posted there.

Everyone is basing a game on a schedule that came out early this year, when CovCath was playing BW on Friday.

Also if the game was cancelled a couple weeks ago, CovCath only had 2 QB's playing, CVH was not cleared to play and there was a lot of talk at the time he may not play at all this year.

I don't think CovCath is ducking HHS in any way. I think the short week was the determining factor in the decision. Having said that the fact the JV players haven't played in almost a month is a very bad situation for the program. Those players deserve/need game time as a reward for all of the hard work they have put in. If a good (not great ) JV player is on the fence about coming back, this can be the nudge that keeps him from returning. CovCath has had an issue the Junior class losing players for a variety of reasons. This can't help that situation for next year.

I was interested in comparing the two JV schedules after reading the back and fourth about the cancellation. I would have liked to attended the game today however after seeing the HHS JV schedule I will plan on making the Elder JV match up since its the only home game now on the schedule.

 

Looks like Highlands JV will be on the road the next 4 out of 5 games.

 

I do not have a problem with Cov Cath doing wants best for their program. It looks like Highlands JV has plenty of work ahead of them without having two game with Cov Cath.

I just think Dale had better start looking for a game to replace the 10/19 CovCath matchup as well.

 

I just don't see anything changing between now and then with all of CovCath's injuries and so on.

 

Actually, if one thinks about it, why in the world would CovCath play Highlands on 10/19 if they are in the same shape they are now...I wouldn't play Highlands, CovCath has to do what is in the best interest of the program. It is what it is...

Have talked many times about the importance of JV. A few years ago, I thought Beechwood was negligent with the JV schedule. No effort was made to schedule games for the weeks that the Varsity opponent was far away or didn't have a JV team. I'm happy to say that I believe they are doing a much better job now.

 

The JV is important for not only building the program, but also giving non-starters the experience of actually playing a real game. Sure, it may not be varsity, but for many, JV is all they may have. They work hard, the attend all meetings and practices, get used as dummies for the varsity and they deserve to play as much as possible. Even 2 quarters in a Varsity game does not replace the JV experience.

 

Clyde's post this morning about Jacob Lamping is a key reason we shouldn't take the JV stuff for granted. Without JV, this kid likely wouldn't have developed and he may not even had stuck with Football long enough to get his Varsity oppportunity. http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-football-high/we-need-more-262392.html

 

Just to put my hyprocrisy in one post for you all to pick at... I DO NOT believe CCH is doing anything wrong here and certainly isn't ducking anyone. IMO, they made a decision based on a unique set of circumstances and solid reasons.

Just got confirmation that the Beechwood- CovCath JV game is on.

And don't hand me injuries as an EXCUSE!

 

CovCath is like any other school, next man up. Plus, having a few injuries is no excuse to take the game away from all the other JV players from CovCath and Highlands.

 

So I ask again, why did Covington Catholic cancel their JV game with Highlands?

 

And note to Highlands, the proper way to handle this is to NEVER play CovCath in Freshman Football or JV football again. Schedule someone else that week each year.

 

And this goes for all schools/teams, they shouldn't be allowed to cancel a JV game any easier than they could or would cancel a varsity football game.

 

Every CCH JV parent should be putting the heat on the Coach and the Principal, there is no excuse for this.

 

It does my heart good to see so many fans concerned with the well being of the Cov Cath JV team.

So it is with great satisfaction that I can say that the JV team will play Beechwood this Saturday as scheduled and (God willing) henceforth continue playing the rest of the season.

Ill play. Why is CovCath now suddenly able to play a JV game?

 

Couldnt do it against Moeller and now Highlands citing injuries and I guess numbers of players but now they will be healthy enough to take on the Beechies...

 

Are they healthy enough because CovCath does not see the Beechies as a threat or risk to the young Sophs and inexperienced Jrs? or is it because CovCath took two advil and feels better now?
