The way the Districts are structured and the talent in 4A across the state.....until CovCath fields a team that can beat the Birds they will win State every year.

 

They simply re-load with awesome talent and then get 150% out of kids that were marginal players when they first entered the program.

Watching this one now(Game 10 for me, with three more to watch on tv)

I love the way the stadium looks on TV and you can really hear the croud.

 

Though I did not pick Highlands to win this one, I am really glad they not only won but did so in such a large way.

 

Still waiting to see Highlands play Cleveland Glenville (OH) and Big school Canton McKinley.

I'm an Ohio guy also and very familiar with those teams... Fact is Highlands doesn't have to go that far up 71 to find a good game. Cincy area teams can provide it.

The hottest game I've ever been to. I was completely soaked.

 

Have we started raising money for a dome with retractable cover yet?

I suffered through it till halftime, then made it to the shaded area of the concession stand area.......UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE DIFFERENCE. I was completely trenched in sweat. However, when I was 16-17-18 years old this would not have bothered me. Bottomline.......UC players were in terrible shape for a State Champion football team.

 

I stood behind the end zone the whole game. It was hot, but there was a breeze that the bleachers weren't getting for whatever reason. It wasn't too terribly bad.

Difference of the game was at about the 6 min. mark of the second quarter when all four defensive linemen for UC hit the wall at the same time. Without a pass rush, they too undisciplined in coverage, or too tired, to do anything.

No doubt about that? But I thought the curly haired one played on the 1981 state champ team and the one they called "Sea Cow" played on the 1981 and 1982 champ teams. Did Highlands win one in 1980?

They had the years all messed up.

I was surprised by the amount of available seats we saw on TV. Not to take anything away from a great win for Highlands but I think folks thought their icing might melt . Good job on adjustments late in the second quarter. Prior to that Houliston was running for his life when if not one, two UC d lineman where hot on his trail.

 

Once the the o line established a moving pocket and gave their QB time the rout was on. The Highlands moving pocket...lets say that one more time....the Highlands moving pocket. Amazed the rest of the pack hasn't been able to replicate the concept, amongst other consistently successful football strategy.

I was not able to attend the game, but from what I have read I think a lot of people were on the other side of the stadium looking for shade.

In the first Qtr from where I sat the stands were full (from the student section to the visitors section)but not packed. My wife started to feel ill from the heat and we had to leave late in the second Qtr. The man infrount of me also left when we did. Finished the game at home in the air conditioning. My daughter in law said the heat affected quite a number of people who had to leave or headed to the shady part of the field.

We were on the shady side of the field, but as the day wore on, the sun sneaked in over the middle part of the school and started baking us too.

Folks were packed in like sardines in the shade by the concession area, including my wife and our friends. I sat in the blazin' heat like the man that I am amd cheered the Birds on to victory. As an aside, I even witnessed a fracas between Highlands #1 fan and some UC faithful.......The result? #1 fan didn't have a chance.:isurrender::lol:
