The UC QB seemed to understand the urgency. His body language toward the coaches showed that, but the coaches seemed to be very nonchalant, like they had no clue time was running out.

 

However I did notice on more than one occasion, while at the game and watching it when I got home, the UC coaches seemed to be having issues with their headsets.

Did they show replays on the new scoreboard or is that prohibited?

They did show a select few plays on replay. They showed every play while it was happening though. The plays that they showed in replay were generally awesome hits by our defense or big scoring plays. At least, that's the way it seemed -- I was kind of too involved in the actual game to notice.

 

I will say that I watched some of the plays that occurred at the far end of the field by way of the JumBirdtron.* The video coverage was great and major kudos go out to the talented students in the HHS Media Department.

After the first quarter I honestly thought HHS was in for a long game. Nothing like putting up 40 unanswered points to make you feel good. That was very impressive.

Bigger, but I don't know about faster. Their RB was a bulldozer, but he really lacked speed. Their D-Line up until the 1 minute mark of the 1st half absolutely dominated Highlands' entire O-Line, and were never the same the rest of the game, aka they were REALLY out of shape. A really big team, but without a scrimmage or any game yet this season, Highlands was bound to wear them down.

Highlands was the better team: more depth, better conditioning, superior game plan and better athletic talent level overall when compared across the full rosters. That was the story. Comparing this team to NCC or most other local teams is just pointless.

Congrats to The Bluebirds on a great win, and thank you for representing Kentucky! I've lived in Florida for 16 years and commonly hear it when I wear my Trinity shirts about how Florida and Texas are the only states with top high school football programs. Please. I had to got to the Jags game tonight, but I got a BIG smile when I saw the caption "University Christian hammered in opener in Kentucky"! Way to go!!! I had to DVR the game, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. You all are well coached, top program, and now the state of Florida knows that too. Great win!

Love that the BlueBirds were able to bring some more national respect to Kentucky. You know you have respect for a program when they end your football career and you're still happy for them. Nothing but good vibes to the Bluebirds.

Great win for Highlands, they did the state and our region proud. IMO if UC is a powerhouse in FL. they have issues! From an outsiders viewpoint they looked disorganized, undisciplined and very much out of shape! Highlands looked like Highlands, well coached, crisp and in great shape. Congrats.

You have to give Dale and his staff a lot of credit for this victory.

 

Teams had better be in shape against the Birds.

We have some of the best coaches around. The adjustments they make as the game goes along are just incredible. Their adjustment to UC's over-pursuit on the rollout was excellent. The change in blocking to give Houliston time to sit in the pocket and pick them apart was impressive as well.

 

Big credit to the Defense in this game. They kept it close until the offense got it going. They spent a lot of time on the field in the first half.

 

Good win for the 'Birds.
