Considering I have seen SK crumble against far lesser competition, your joy is amusing. Let's see Simon Kenton be relevant for more than just Miles Simpson's senior season before we talk. Although I do think SK did finally score their first TD on the Rocks a few years ago. Since you are clearly into moral victories maybe that will make you feel better as you continue to be irrelevant.

the high school portion of the school opened in 2002. It is co-ed .

 

I knew they were a young school. This article paints an interesting picture about Ensworth as an athletics school per se and what I was referring to earlier. They seem focused on sports although I'm sure they're a fine academic institution as well.

Very entertaing game to watch. Trinity acquitted themselves well. It was obvious to anyone with eyes who the better team was one quarter in. Trinity was on the verge of stealing one but just couldn't hold on.

 

Best wishes on anspeedy recovery fornthe T QB. If he is healthy and hitting on all cylinders come 3 weeks from now, I am not confident in my Cardinals escaping with a victory.

Couldn't watch the game, but it sounds like a great one. From the comments in this thread, and some from friends via text, Trinity has work to do ( T fans expected that) but all is fixable. Losing by a single point is nothing to be upset about. With the talk of Ensworth's 3 TD's called back, it sounds as if they have work to do as well. I do believe that the rumors of Trinity's demise are premature. This season will be fun, even with some losses. With the level of competition that Trinity has been/will be playing week in and week out, there is nothing to expect but better and better in the future. To be the best....you've got to play the best! GO ROCKS!

I have confidence in the Trinity players and the coaching staff. This was the first meaningful real game action game for many of T's players and having an opponent like Ensworth did not allow them to ease into it. Beatty was talking on a radio talk show yesterday aftenoon about how leaders will emerge on the team. This will help. If eveerybody just boosts their game up 5%, this team will be OK.

Nope the next TD SK score on the Rocks will be their first.

After a a little sleep, we can re-visit the stats. The Nashville version states Ferby ran for 194 yards. The C-J version has him with 187. I usually go with C-J. :-) The total yards were T-365-E 346. First downs were 14 each. E rushed 38 times for 334. THS 24 attempts for 130. Passing: EHS was 6 of 12 for 122 yards. THS was 19 of 28 for 235. The Tigers had the only TO, a fumble. Penalties on EHS were mentioned in the Nashville version only. The numbers in the C-J EHS 9 penalties for 78 yards and T had 10 for 91 yards. Punting was not good for either team: E- 4 for 32.5 avg, T- 5 for 29 yard average (after 43 and 45 yard punts).

 

Ensworth did have a couple of TDs called back on penalties. Trinity's personal foul on a third down play on EHS' winning TD drive was a killer. Ensworth did rotate guys and kept their better athletes on the field as much as possible. Based on Tennessee scribes' words of wisdom, Ensworth will not be challenged the remainder of the season. Tennessee teams are allowed only one game per season versus out of state competition. Like Trinity, Ensworth has only a nine game regular season slate.

Trinity will have their hands full the rest of the season. That being said, I wouldn't bet against the Rocks winning their 23rd state title in December.

 

I have not watched the ESPNU version yet. I will a little later on. I am guessing it was entertaining for the TV audience and hopefully, they will come back another time or two. The lighting did not receive any boost by ESPN. 5 HD cameras and a crew of 30-40 were present at Marshall Stadium.

 

Coach Beatty's assessment is Trinity is better off playing a very good team and being tested in place of playing someone locally who is overmatched from the kickoff. There are three more first time opponents for Trinity this season. All are over the next three weeks! It should be very interesting football.
