Ensworth (TN) 27 Trinity 26

It's very obvious that the T defense is a notch or 2 below the last few years!

No doubt....and I expected that. Gotta get them up to speed right away.

Exactly. Replacing 10 of 11 is never easy.

But if nothing else, this schedule's going to have them battle-tested.

Yes. How many D1 prospects on this years defense. Zero I think. Four on last years?

There are at least 2 that I know will play D1 ball.....but they're sophomores.

Looks as if a lot of the T faithful are preaching the "Moral Victory" card in the wake of the 27-26 loss to the hands of Ensworth. T will improve and bounce back thats for sure but lets just call it like it is without all the sugar..... Trinity got beat at home in a thriller. 0 - 1 and on to next week! IMO a great start to the HS football season.

T may be a giant, however I don't think they were sleeping or have been sleeping for the last 11 years.....

I don't believe I've overestimated any of the talent we've had on the past squads. Just because certain schemes didn't bring the talent to the forefront doesn't mean the talent was absent. I'm pretty sure most would agree, especially the recruiting sites and talent evaluators that Davis (5'10 240 lbs) has that "bruising power".

That comparison was disrespectful and ill-advised.

D'Andre Ferby

Austin Davis

Both Are 3 stars and Davis is rated Higher.

D'Andre Ferby - Yahoo! Sports

Treyveon Percell - Yahoo! Sports

Both are 2 stars.

Based on those profiles, there are at least 3 mustangs in that comparison.

Good point, I should never compare any St.X player to a Fiat, except maybe the QB from 2010. A tricked out Focus ST is probably more accurate. :) That aside I have watched the X kids play and Ferby and unless they look worlds better than last time I saw them they aren't as good as he is from what I have seen. It has been a long time since I watched a RB truck T defenders the way he did, frankly I am not sure if I have seen it like that since Shelton in '99. Don't get me wrong, these guys from X may be good, but I doubt they will be in his league when I see them.

Agreed. I do believe it is very easy to get complacent when a program has the success and the incredible run they have been on.

Losing the other nite is not good for the rest of teams this yr imo. Programs like T rarely if ever lose two in a row let alone two in a season.

Maybe the other nite was a wake up call for them not to take anything or anybody for granted...Just sayin

It happens to the best of them, including T...

To be fair, 10 years ago we started the season 0-4. Only to win the next 11 games and beat X twice on the way to the title.

I think it's also easy to forget what an outlier these past few years have been. Bob Beatty and his staff have been amazing. I hope these years become the harbinger of the long-term future and aren't still an outlier many years down the road.

When you and I were at Trinity, we sure weren't racking up wins against the Ohio or Indiana powerhouses.

When I was there we only played them in 97 and 98, and got beat down.

And I remember the '94 state championship team getting absolutely PASTED by Indianapolis Ben Davis.

It is amazing to see how far the program has come since then.

No doubt. The change in the playbook alone since those days is enough to make your head spin.

There were three different varsity head coaches in our time at Trinity, Bob Beatty's first two years being my last two. That time of upheaval has led to a remarkable era for the program.

At least you got to see a title. :wacky:
