I laughed when Ensworth was lined up and the kid came off the sideline in a dead sprint and never stopped and went right into a block. Canadian football feel to it.

Did I not address that?

Maybe I missed that implication.

Young kids got beat up.....but their line was great.....I think, in a loss, a ton can be learned.

Yea, but 485 kids co-ed vs. Trinty's how many boys--1600+?? Seems like kind of a mismatch in the numbers' department??

Ensworth is a private high school which serves primarily the entertainment industry in the central part of Tenn...every member of the football team is on full athletic scholarship...the tuition is very high, but no challenge to the families that go there...when they played us (LC) in Lexington, I learned that one of the cheerleaders is Faith Hill's daughter (she was very good)kudos to Trinity for keeping it that close..

After a a little sleep, we can re-visit the stats. The Nashville version states Ferby ran for 194 yards. The C-J version has him with 187. I usually go with C-J. :-) The total yards were T-365-E 346. First downs were 14 each. E rushed 38 times for 334. THS 24 attempts for 130. Passing: EHS was 6 of 12 for 122 yards. THS was 19 of 28 for 235. The Tigers had the only TO, a fumble. Penalties on EHS were mentioned in the Nashville version only. The numbers in the C-J EHS 9 penalties for 78 yards and T had 10 for 91 yards. Punting was not good for either team: E- 4 for 32.5 avg, T- 5 for 29 yard average (after 43 and 45 yard punts).

Ensworth did have a couple of TDs called back on penalties. Trinity's personal foul on a third down play on EHS' winning TD drive was a killer. Ensworth did rotate guys and kept their better athletes on the field as much as possible. Based on Tennessee scribes' words of wisdom, Ensworth will not be challenged the remainder of the season. Tennessee teams are allowed only one game per season versus out of state competition. Like Trinity, Ensworth has only a nine game regular season slate.

Trinity will have their hands full the rest of the season. That being said, I wouldn't bet against the Rocks winning their 23rd state title in December.

I have not watched the ESPNU version yet. I will a little later on. I am guessing it was entertaining for the TV audience and hopefully, they will come back another time or two. The lighting did not receive any boost by ESPN. 5 HD cameras and a crew of 30-40 were present at Marshall Stadium.

Coach Beatty's assessment is Trinity is better off playing a very good team and being tested in place of playing someone locally who is overmatched from the kickoff. There are three more first time opponents for Trinity this season. All are over the next three weeks! It should be very interesting football.

ESPNU had Ferby with 194 as well.

T graduated some excellent players, they will still continue to "bully" KY if you will, this only says to me that in out of state games they may not walk through everyone like have the past few years.

Great game, electric atmosphere in a packed stadium, wonderful sportsmanship displayed on both sides, a national TV audience and a one-point victory that was in the balance until the final seconds. No downside to this one for anybody.

People think that we're down or not, we should have won that game. I can't think of many times, that were up two TD's and lose. Special teams need a ton of work. I think our young defense got beat up, but that's good. Reggie? Cramps? Come on man. We had every business winning that game.

Shore up some defensive personnel, and special teams gaffes....and I feel #23 should be ours.

In two appearances, my perception is that we've been more impressive than the Xaverians. For better or worse, that's the only barometer at this point.

I will add to this, although I wouldn't go as far as saying it was special teams that lost the game...T does need to improve on their D-Line, I thought if anything that was the weak link. Although I have to give credit to Ferby, he would be hit right away but still not go down so not sure if it's not wrapping up is the problem or if he is just that good to continuosly break tackles after first contact.

I will say also that I thought the most impressive player on offense was #8, can't remember his name but he was a star reciever for T last night. He made some great adjustments when the ball was in the air to make some great catches. Very impresseed with.

What about that run d?

No one in KY has a RB like Ferby, not even your Tigers

I agree with you that Trinity will "bully" Kentucky teams in 2013, I don't think that any in-state team can play within 3 TD's of Trinity and they will punish St. X. With that said my thoughts:

1. Trinity was "bullied" last night on their home field...bully versus bully and Ensworth was the bigger, badder and meaner bully.

2. Ensworth controlled the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense and should have honestly won that game by at least 2 TD's - those +300lb lineman were difference makers.

3. The Trinity OC should get more accolades, great play calls and limited the number of Ensworth offense possessions. Trinity is more of a finesse misdirection team, the Trinity O-Line ran out of gas early so it limited the play call options. The Trinity OC kept them in a game with a bunch of maulers, and almost pulled it out in the end.

4. I really like the Trinity #5 QB, as the season progresses he will be near impossible to stop in that offensive scheme. The Trinity #8 receiver flat out gets it done, kind of like a Steve Largent back in the day.

5. No question that Ensworth #10 did a great job on the ground, but the Ensworth O-Line pounded the Trinity D-Line all night and they deserve a lot of credit. The holes for #10 on most runs were just huge, so he was into the DB's in a hurry and was like a bowling ball mowing down pins.

6. The Trinity #7 on defense was very fortunate to not be seriously hurt in that game, his head was in dangerous positions when he was run over by Ensworth #10 multiple times and it was scary to watch. The coaches need to immediately work with Trinity #7 on proper and safe tackling technique.

What next?

This is not ST X's year, Trinity will pound them.

Look for Ensworth #10 to pull in BCS offers and improve his rivals ranking.

Hopefully Enswoth and Trinity can agree to a long-term home and home series.

For starters, what is "like Ferby"? Secondly we have 3 running backs so even if YOU don't believe we have a "Ferby" our 3 is better than that 1.

3 Fiats does not equal 1 Mustang.

Your three may be good, and you all might well be capable of beating us, but none have the brusing power he had. Considering your assessments of talent have been quite suspect in the past, I will trust in the fact that you oversetimate your boys because you have little ability for dispassionately looking at details.

I don't think anyone on that schedule is going to "punish" or "bully" St. X

I don't believe I've overestimated any of the talent we've had on the past squads. Just because certain schemes didn't bring the talent to the forefront doesn't mean the talent was absent. I'm pretty sure most would agree, especially the recruiting sites and talent evaluators that Davis (5'10 240 lbs) has that "bruising power".

That comparison was disrespectful and ill-advised.

D'Andre Ferby

Austin Davis

Both Are 3 stars and Davis is rated Higher.

Treyveon Percell - Yahoo! Sports

Both are 2 stars.

Based on those profiles, there are at least 3 mustangs in that comparison.
