Dale is an awesome coach. Amongst the tops ever. He was the head coach in Ohio at Sycamore and Withrow, and while there was some success, there were no state titles.

 

State titles are a tough animal to get in Ohio, for example, Colerain has one.

Here we go again. Boone Co is the ONLY district that I know that doesn't have open enrollement. And that was the choice of their district! They did it to themselves. Every other school that I know takes kids from other districts if they want to come. Why aren't Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow and Lloyd all powerhouses? They have open enrollement! Along with many others. Why isn't SK, Scott, Dixie, Camp Co...all open enrollment schools. All live by EXACTLY the same rules as HHS.

 

And I think it's been said many times, HHS had 5 tuition kids out of 120 on their roster last year. So are you saying take those 5 kids off the team and HHS is back to just a little above average. Keep in mind at least one of those was a freshman.

 

Open enrollment is no where near what Trinity and St X have. You can't lop open enrollment in with private schools. You live in Boone Co, so you think not having open enrollment is the norm. It's the opposite. Boone is in the vast minority.

Did I ever say it wasn't Boone Co's choice? No.

 

What I did say was IMO it is much more impressive to me when a school like Cooper goes as deep in the playoffs than a school like T winning 10 titles in a row when a school like T has the pick of the litter including out of state talent.

You are helping make my point. Ryle has the numbers and the quality of school to compete with Trinity. It is about the "Jimmy's and Joe's". For all that Highlands has going for it, it is still a 400 boy school. Think of it this way. If Highlands were 3x its current size, could Highlands beat Trinity?

 

Compare the number of DI-A signee's from Highlands over the last 7 years vs. Ryle and then get back to me on that whole "Ryle has the same talent Highlands has".

 

Ryle is in a multi-school County...they share money with a couple of other schools...they are just another high school to their BOE now (despite that beautiful little gem of a field they have)...in essence, they will NEVER, no matter who coaches them, Compete with Trinity on any sort of consistent basis.

C'mon now, You say I;m making excuses but yet you guys are the ones trying to compare scores. I hate to put it this way because I like & respect Highlands alot but all I know is when they had there chance at Trinity they were detroyed!!!

 

BTW if you don't think it did not make a difference that Quick didn't play & Dawkins was playing with a stomach virus, then you are being a homer!!!those 2 were special players,one a 5* & the other a 4* player. Also When Scott Co & Highlands faced Trinity with a heathly Quick & Dawkins Scott Co & Highlands were detroyed & those are facts!!

Do you think those kids were born D1 athletes, or were they developed into D1 athletes. It's work ethic and the culture that are creating these D1 athletes. You won't understand unless you are from ft Thomas and you've seen with your own eyes, but as you watch kids from ft Thomas grow up and get transformed into the football players they become, it's truly amazing. Kids that are skinny little kids that you think would never make it end up getting scholarships. It's because they all buy in, drink the blue kool-aid and work their tales off!!! They weren't all born with D1 talent.

 

I guarantee you there are plenty of kids with just as much natural talent sitting in the halls of Ryle. HHS is half the size of Ryle and I guarantee they don't get anywhere near the district money that Ryle gets. Just look at the facilities. And there is plenty of money in the Ryle community! So why couldn't Ryle develop into a powerhouse with the right culture, structure and support??

 

Just and example....Ryle has probably twice and many boys as HHS. HHS probably has twice as many boys in their football program. What's wrong with that picture? It's has way more to do with many others things rather than if there are D1 athletes by the time they leave the system.
