Just to clear this all up...SEEK money is state allocated per-pupil money for school districts and is the life-blood of school districts.

 

Final, per-pupil SEEK allocations projected for 2013-2014

Boone Co. Schools....$2,854 SEEK dollars per student

Ft. Thomas....$4,397 SEEK dollars per student

 

The state actually helps the Blue Birds more when all the math is done.

What you'll see is that EVERY public school student is initially allocated a sum of $3,827 within their district. That includes your fall on the sword for the rest of us Ft. Thomas district...

 

As far as building buildings, you do understand that is a totally different pot of money from which you draw don't you?

So TECHNICALLY ColdHard was incorrect. Ft Thomas doesn't recieve the LEAST funding. It was the 8th lowest of the 173 districts.

 

Looking at the forecast data for the 2013-2014, Ft Thomas again isn't THE lowest. It's only the 9th lowest funded out of the 173.

I guess this is the point at which all of you begin to pretend not to see that Ft. Thomas gets more money per pupil than Boone...and that it's been that way for awhile...and that it appears it's going to stay that way...and now all rally around the NKY brand...

Those adjustments are for issues such as IEP's, transportation calculations, home care, and so on...they are additions.

 

Then you have ONE deduction column, which is your local tax per pupil...which comically in this case Ft. Thomas pays LESS into than Boone Co. schools.

Your almost there. There are indeed columns adjusting upward. Look at who is getting the lions share. You want to pick a column at a time and argue it. you made a point and were wrong. And no argument from me that Boone is getting hit just as hard as Ft. T. In fact, those two districts, along with Ft. Mitchell have led the effort for reform of KERA with little impact. Where Boone is taking it hardest is in the building department where they have had to build buildings do to growth without adequate state funding. Boone shares the distinction of "wealthy school district" as well, according to KERA's definition. What the state has done to Boone is criminal if you ask me. No way the legislature will make a change when more than two thirds represent areas that take in more than they put in. Doesn't change the formula facts though. They are what they are.
