This has been discussed many times. It's amazing others don't point it out every chance they get. And it's amazing with all the haters out there that noone is jumping on board with you.

 

So I'm conceding this arguement knowing the truth. Go preach your (like that proper use??) thoughts from the mountain tops. Just make sure you're (well looky there, proper use again!) preaching the truth!

I would like to see Trinity play more KY schools. I think it would help both in the long run. If I was Boone's new coach I would go on record right now that I was scheduling T next time contracts are up. Set the bar high and build toward it and take a different path than the other schools in the district. Boone may be one of the few schools that have the capacity to build it based on size and talent available.:

The argument is fine, but some of you all need to review the Terms of Service and make sure you are posting within the rules. If I were you, I would pay particular attention to Rule 2 and Rule 5. Adhere to the rules or watch from the sidelines.

Okay, maybe Trinity is a reach right now. But maybe the 6A schools you mention could start by at least playing all the good local schools every year and build their program. I'm not here to bash the other schools, but if they don't start doing that, they will not catch up and continue to lose ground. It is actually disappointing to to see our NKY big schools not be able to compete. I enjoy seeing the area thrive like it used to. Heck, forget about Trinity and St X. Just compete with the others in the state. It seems like teams give up because they don't believe they can ever beat T or X. That's crazy!

They have the numbers and the money in the community to dominate NKY in sports (IMO). Just not sure about the other factors and what is missing because I don't know enough about it. But from the outside looking in, it's hard to understand why they aren't a consistant powerhouse in all sports.

Agree completely...I would say you'll see Boone upswing pretty quickly with the new staff. I would give them a year or two, get the numbers up, get the systems installed, and you'll see them being competitive with the best NKY has to offer.

I don't like Boone for this year. My previous post says for the next scheduling cycle. That would give the new coach this year and next to build toward that. Really the same logic applies to any other school. I have talked to several coaches in KY that concede that they cannot win a championship. That is unfortunate.

 

The first time I spoke to Dale Mueller about football he said the phrase 'win a state championship' about 10 times. There was no doubt that he was building toward that. Keep in mind that his biggest rival, CovCath, had something of a dynasty going at the time. That kind of attitude is a must if you are going to get there.

Now there I really agree...it is bad that some of the NKY big class teams have come up short, but Lexington is a total catastrophe...Someone posted a while back the rules guiding Fayette Co. Schools and football practice limitations and it was a complete shocker...with the current administrations in place in Fayette Co. Schools, they will struggle to overcome the uphill climb imposed by their own.

Those schools for the most part, have higher enrollments than NKy 6A as well. HS Football is incredibly poorly supported in Lexington.

He means the Collinsworth's and others not only don't live in Ft. Thomas, but not in Kentucky also.

Well, first they take the placement exam. Then, like most Trinity families, they apply for financial aid. Then, on the off-chance they qualify for the maximum (1/2 of the tuition is the max), the family then begins budgeting for the rest. One or both parents may take on second or third jobs, they decide to put off buying a newer car, maybe eat hot dogs more often....Trust me....it can be done. It's not easy at all, but it's done by more families than just the athletes. You can't judge a family's willingness to find a way by where they live or what their savings account is or isn't.

 

What about for-pay work-study opportunities that are offered?

I'm not criticizing this practice because if a child wants to go bad enough that they are willing to take a job to do so, then I'm not going to argue with their decision if (they think and it is in fact) in their best interest.

there is NO 50% RULE. Any student may apply for work study. All funds earned are applied to tuition.
