I have the upmost respect for T but not for fans that say that two players is why T won and won big.

No way is one or two kids ever bigger than a program like T. Just sayin...

 

I never said anything about one player being bigger than the program. I merely stated those players mentioned were indeed big difference makers & for the record Trinity over came Wright having an off night, Dawkins playing ill & Quick not playing, Trinity's team still rallied to beat Scott co. So how I;m I selling the other rocks short when stating some obvious reason about why Trinity's Offense wasn't it's nomarl self that night against Scott. again, You guys are the ones trying to make more of the score being closer than expected & trying to look passed the obvious!!!Having said that no team in Kentucky was going to beat Trinity last year because of Trinity's Defense. Remember in the playoffs they only gave up 14 points. That was against Scottco & St x. They held both of them to less than 180 yards total offense. & we certainly know you are not going to beat Trinity by scoreing only 14 points & having less than 200 yard of total offense.

You say Ryle is supported by a multi-school county. HHS is supported by one small city and very little state money.

 

SEEK (KY State per-student funds) money is allocated the same per-student per district across the board in KY's public schools. Ryle and Highlands get the same amount of money per-student.

T without those two will not be nearly as hard to handle...yeah, they'll come back down to earth a bit...there's a reason those guys were put on such recruiting pedestals...they were that much better than EVERYONE else in the state. There is was not a single player in KY that could cover Quick 1 on 1, and not a single player in the state that could block Hatcher...so yeah, those two alone change the scope of a game completely.

Compare the number of DI-A signee's from Highlands over the last 7 years vs. Ryle and then get back to me on that whole "Ryle has the same talent Highlands has".

 

Ryle is in a multi-school County...they share money with a couple of other schools...they are just another high school to their BOE now (despite that beautiful little gem of a field they have)...in essence, they will NEVER, no matter who coaches them, Compete with Trinity on any sort of consistent basis.

 

And thus the reason that the kids think they can't compete, the adults have already given up.

Might want to try a little research on this issue ER. Prior to KERA (1990) student funding was as you describe. KERA provided, among other things, the SEEK plan which provides a formula in which districts are funded. Under the SEEK formula the Ft. Thomas Independent School District receives the least funding per student in the entire state.

 

Simply stated KERA provides that districts that have the ability to raise taxes locally receive less state funding. The taxpayers of Ft. Thomas have twice since been asked to raise the local tax formula and supported the measure. Also keep in mind that roughly 40 cents of every tax dollar harvested from the citizens of Ft. Thomas comes back in some form.

 

In this time period the district has built a middle school and an elementary school, as well as completed several phases of a remodel of the high school all with minimal support from the state. Yes around here we have dinners, dances and fund raisers to build our schools because the state uses much of the funding harvested here to build schools elsewhere.

 

Ft. Thomas supports it's schools, and probably yours as well.

Your answer is several. But you only hear/remember the big ones. The bruns twins are at UC and one of Towles receivers is at UK (sorry, can't remember his name and there aren't a ton of kids that go D1)...just to name a couple right off the top of my head. There are and have been others. The difference is...at a young age, hhs starts to develop the bigger kids into impact players (QB's, running back, etc.) They don't just say, "you're big, get on the line" Heck, there have been a couple years where some of HHS' biggest guys are their QB's. (see towles and lorenzen). Think outside the box and don't make every big kid a lineman. Some of our backs and Qb's were lineman when they were in little league. Heck, look at our defensive line last year. One of them couldn't have been over 5'9" and 185. But he was quick as lightening. They don't do the traditional positioning that other schools do. Again, think outside the box!

 

Are you telling me there aren't any kids at Ryle over 6'1"???? Develop them!!! HHS is much smaller than you think. They don't have a lot of "big kids", but they develop the ones they do have and yes, they drink the kool-aide. Just because they are tall, still doesn't mean they were born D1 athletes. We only have 400 boys in the school. Not a lot of big ones. They do have a bigger team than usual this year because the one class is filled with big kids. But once they are gone, they'll be back to their usuall selves.

 

If you actually knew what these kids go thru, you'd have a completely different perspective. But you don't, so you make silly assumptions. Most HHS kids come back from college and tell the story of how college workouts and practices are much easier compared to high school. Urban Meyer visited HHS and was quoted as saying he hasn't seen an offseason program anywhere that compares to HHS. Think about those last two things and you tell me they don't get developed. If you didn't experience it, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I fully understand. Perhaps you don't understand that what is allocated INITIALLY is not what the district receives. That is the starting point from which adjustments are made. Check again and pay special attention to the columns where adjustments are made. There are four of them. Starting with " Adjust for local effort" it continues from there.

We do understand it all...we live it! You don't. You are preaching to the choir. We know what the regulations are and they are exacty like Coldhard describes. Not sure how you think you would know it better than the people who live it and fund it! It's our money they spend and most people understand where their money is going!

Those adjustments are for issues such as IEP's, transportation calculations, home care, and so on...they are additions.

 

Then you have ONE deduction column, which is your local tax per pupil...which comically in this case Ft. Thomas pays LESS into than Boone Co. schools.
