I venture a guess that he's not at CovCath next year, for any sport. I don't know of one freshman that declined to play varsity that was as the same school the next year.

I kind of feel bad for this kid already. (Not much, a little) If he doesn't throw for 3,000 yards, score 30 TD and 10 INT he going to be considered a lost season. Not by CovCath folks but others watching his every move.

Yep, you are right. For some unknown reason, we build em up when they are young and love to tear them down when they get older. Will never understand that dynamic.

Just happy to be watching honestly. Good kid with a good head on his shoulders. He'll be fine no matter what path he chooses.

The above posts aroused my curiosity about Barker freshman posts. I found this one in a thread about upcoming underclassmen:

 

Then let me add 8th grader and current Conner frosh qb Drew Barker. We'll hear a lot about him in the next 4 years on the gridiron and on the hardwood.

Sounds familiar. I underestimated how much we'd hear about him though. I knew he had a chance at D1 because of size and arm but NEVER thought it would get to where it has gotten.

 

I'm excited to watch CVH play.

I just heard that 2005 CCH grad Pat Burke is now on the staff at CCH. He had been at Grant County. Will be coaching d-line.

 

Pat was one tough kid. Classic undersized overachieving NKY kid.
