That certainly was not the intent. IMO there could have been a battle for the position with Wags coming in as the leader. All I meant was that now that battle will not take place.

 

And I'm saying the battle was never going to take place as the varsity coaches don't bring up Freshmen to play varsity unless:

1) the kid is a freak stud (which Cole is)

and

2) the aforementioned stud fills a needed position (which Cole does not, as they have Wagner, Sr Dressman and Soph Dressman filling the bill.)

 

Now- next year, if Cole wishes to continue to play, there will be a terrific QB battle.

I see it more as someone not sure they will be playing football as a sophomore at CCH. Basketball is the kid's #1 sport.

I venture a guess that he's not at CovCath next year, for any sport. I don't know of one freshman that declined to play varsity that was as the same school the next year.

He'll be there. If you are a top notch basketball player in N. Ky., CCH is one of the best places to be.

 

Plus, he is likely going to start varsity in basketball, if you are thinking along those lines.

Again, you guys are saying he - or the family- "declined" to play varsity football at CCH, as though it was a given that he was offered. Unless someone knows different, I am saying the varsity coaches didn't offer.

If the kid is as good as we hear (and I have no clue if he has - haven't seen him) they he could compete this year. If I'm young Dressman I learn how to catch passes.

Varsity was not a definite option for him this year. IMO he would have been the JV QB.

It's been the old coaches fault, the schedule etc. I've heard countless times once the coach gets his system in place, from feeder school on, then we will be back on top. My point is like it or not the Coach, the System is in place. Only the players talent and the coaching decisions determine if you are good enough to beat Highlands.

I agree with that 100%. Put your best athletes on the field in the places they will help the most.
