^Based upon what was just written above in terms of mental fatigue, does anyone think CCH possibly has a "mental" hurdle that needs to be overcome in order to beat Highlands? Given that CCH last beat HHS in varsity football in 2006 (and has not tasted the success of winning for the past six seasons), is HHS' success over CCH now more a mental/psychological thing than a physical/talent/numbers thing?

What does Covington Catholic need to do to improve in 2013? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

 

I firmly believe that CCH will not be nearly as good as last years team. We lost a lot of upperclassman who had the positioned locked up for awhile. It looks to me Wirth Scheduled harder. Our D line looks to small and not many stars their.

 

I believe this year won't be a very productive one. But it will be a stepping stone for the classes to follow.

No on a serious note, this incoming Sr. class was dubbed at one time by a guy in the know to be one of the best classes to probably go through CCH. So HHS will still prepare like they are.....IMO!!

 

They will not be overlooked! Not happening.....

I agree about the defensive line- but on nothing else. This will be a much more effective running team than last year which should open up the play action pass. Luke Bir, Sam Dressman and Adam Wagner bring a lot to the table. They return several experienced wide outs led by Evan Braun and Sam Hatter. The O-line returns the starting tackles in Stewart and Kathman and their center. The guards are both Seniors.

On D, the LB core returns two starters incl Sam Burchell and the DB's return starters led by Oberhausen.

Schedule is tougher and they may take a lump or two, but I think they will be better off having played a tougher schedule.

I have to agree with you. I remember CCH's freshman team back in 2009-10 They were the toughest team I think we faced all season that year. Dressman could do it all and I thought was one of the best kickers I've seen in a long long time. CCH should be fine this year and their seniors won't go out without a fight.

The offense will have to put up big numbers for the first part of the season because the defense will not be tuned yet. Other than Burchell and Nelms the LB position is short and is still up for grabs. The D line will have a tough time replacing who left. The DBs will do great. Great corners with experience. This Senior class is one of the best but they won't have much help. This team will do well, but I just for think they can do better than Blake Bir and company. But i would love to see them prove me wrong.

Senior class is very strong, but I am concerned about depth.

 

I am glad to see the Schedule finally toughen up. Last few years have been very weak. I understand some of that was the re-alignment, but not all of it.

 

I do think playing Moeller may be too tough. I would have prefferred it be La Salle again. CovCath can play with La Salle most years, they can't play with Moeller most years.

 

This is the big man on the sidelines 4th or 5th year. No more excuses, time to take it to the next level.

If we are going to claim sandbagging on posts, this one heads to the top of the list. IMO zero chance CCH can beat Highlands this year.

I've not ever known Coach Wirth to offer any excuses. I'm assuming you're alleging that he makes excuses are for not beating Highlands?

11-12 I thought played very good defense.

I'd also like a full report on CCH's probable starters at QB, RB, WR, offense and defensive lines.

I'm told that Cole Von Handorf and his family have decided he should be on the frosh team so that means MR Wagner (can't remember his first name) is the likely starter at QB.
