Absolutely. He's an athlete, like his younger brother and could play just about anywhere on the field and do well. It's no secret that they will manufacture ways to get he and Luke Bir as many touches as they can and still be productive.

Sam will indeed line up all over the gird-iron and if their smart, the other team will send a man or two with him, just in case.

 

It's gonna be fun spotting this season and doing the stats for the team because you will never know where the ball is going to be going to!

Totally agree. Last year was the year we were suppose to know what Sam would be doing but he was hurt on and off the entire season. But this is kinda good this year that he didnt play because other teams wont know what to do. Sam played great in the spring game. He will be threat all over the field.

 

Also Wags may not have they arm power of BIr, but he definitely can run. Now opposing D's have to respect the run as much as the pass if not more. Wags look really welll in play action so that might mean wirth might have running some bootlegs

Sam Dressman is the player to watch on this team. Talent wise - I put him up there with any player in the area. He will be a star at any position they choose to play him. The key is staying healthy. If he stays healthy, it will be very interesting to see how Wirth uses him. Personally, I think it is a mistake not to use him at QB. I want my star touching the ball every play. I really think he is a Towles/Pike/Barker level athlete. You let him use his legs (running the ball) to win games and develop the passing. Then eventually, his passing will be even better than his running.

What about a guy by the last name or Morgan? I heard he was headed to Cov Cath

 

Tanner Morgan from Ryle. I have heard he has been giving deep consideration. I believe his father has been talking with Coach Wirth more than once. I am not totally convinced that he will come to cch. but don't be surprised if he does.

 

Now about his game: I watched him play twice this year, and one of those was against the colonels (colonels victory). He didn't do much against CCH but i see potential. He has a really good arm. A great arm. He is not a very mobile QB though. As a comparison to Vonhandorf, I would give Cole the upper edge because he is a dual-threat Qb, running and throwing. It also helped Cole to have Shelton and thiel to throw too. Those three were deadly. Tanner only had Brent angel with some other role players. I might add that Brent Angel is coming to CCh to join that deadly receiving core.

 

If Tanner came to CCH and their was a QB competition with Cole. I think Cole would beat him out. Just to much beast to handle. Also, CYF backup QB, Tony Hentz (son of Bill) is a great quarter back and can throw a rocket.

 

CCH is going to be spoiled with QB's for awhile.

Wow... it has been several years since there has been this much interest/chatter about CovCath's football team on BGP at this time of year. People must be expecting some very good things from the Colonels this season. Best wishes to CCH during the summer practices.

I sure hope so! But I agree with the rest, let them play their 9th grade season(AND BEAT HIGHLANDS) before we talk "best ever".

Shouldn't come to CCH if he wants "assurances" of playing QB. I most definitely think he would compete at the highest level though. Against Cole, I don't think he wins a starting spot. If Cole goes the b-ball route, he competes against Hentz at his own grade level. However, that would be great competition as well as I think Tony is a starter on any other Freshman team. Has a great arm- just not the speed and strength as Cole ( but few do at that age).

I couldn't agree more. Tanner will likely not start at CCH no matter what Cole does. Ben dressmam will likely be their QB until senior year. Then either Cole or tony Hentz. Tony. Will be a great Qb but he just isn't getting the same reps as Cole.

 

If Tanner wants to play QB he should not come to Cov Cath but if he wants to contend for a state championship he should come. He may have to sacrifice a little. But that's life
