I am here to confirm that Sam Burchell has broken a foot. I am told he is out for 6 to 8 weeks. This hurts

 

Better for this to happen in July rather than September.

Really hate to hear this. Sam is such a good kid and a leader on and off the field.

 

Really hope its 6 weeks or less, for Sam and his family's sake. He will be driving them crazy if he starts missing football games. Prayers out to a quick recovery for Sam.

Now on to the predicted record. As others have said Higlands and Moeller will be favorites over CovCath. The remaining games CovCath will either be the favorite or it will be a toss up. Barring more critical injuries, the offense will be very good. If the D-line plays to it's potential, I think the defense will be outstanding as well.

 

Let's remember that these seniors as Frosh were very good. Only losses were to Highlands. In fact only other close game was to Campbell Co. I know Freshman records don't mean much 3 years later, but the core of this team is very talented. I will go as far as to say that if they don't go 7-3 in the regular season it will be a big disappointment. But as AAATC says, thats why we play the games!

From a football fan's perspective this stinks. I really enjoy watching him play. He'll be close to 100% by the end of the season and into the playoffs. Look forward to seeing him once or twice then.

From a Dad's perspective, I feel bad for him. If my boys had to miss half of their final year, after all that they put into that season (like Burchell did, my friend raves about his work ethic), it would be really hard to take for them. Not tragic, but it sure sucks.

It's definitely hard to swallow as a high school senior, and Sam is very bummed out about it. I had an intention come over for him today on the prayer chain I'm a part of.

Looks like it, and be completely back to speed by 9/19. That would 10 weeks post op. That would be great for him and the Colonel faithful.

I am a bit surprised by the CovCath faithful saying so much about the ride to Henderson. Have you been on one of the bus trip to Johnson Central to play the Eagles on a Friday night during the playoffs? It's just short of a 3:00 hour drive also but lets just say the roads to Henderson County will be much easier to drive, than the drive through the Mountains and there is no time difference to help out either on the JC trip, like there will be to Henderson!

Spot on TOG. If CCH is on the road to JC this year, that is good scheduling. Get the team a tough road trip to prepare them. Beechwood schedules a road trip for the years they will travel to Western Ky. in the playoffs. That is why they have Franklin County on this year's schedule.

Makes total sense VOR but I thought they would look for an opponent further west than Frankfort. If it is Mayfield again isn't that trip an additional 3 1/2 hours further than Frankfort? Big difference if you do not plan on spending the night.

They had Elizabethtown on the schedule the previous two years which is 2 hours+. Unfortunately, the games just weren't that close so I imagine they went looking for a tougher opponent. They gave up travel time to get a better team on the schedule.
