As a follower of both let me say both have questions this early in the season. In July Conner gets the edge simply because of the QB difference.

I think Mensch raised a fair point. New QB/some new receivers/new guys on D/Burchell possibly being out. The CCH dad he spoke to obviously sees CCH much more than most and knows the personnel much more than the average fan. However, that can be a curse. Trust me. Been there (see 2003).

 

Dave's offense puts players in position to succeed. Can an "adequate passer" succeed ENOUGH? Strong physical (typical CCH) backs but no "take it to the house" backs like Gabe Gray. Can CCH O be explosive? If not can the D be strong enough to hold solid to good teams to 14 to 17 points?

 

Maybe the CCH dad has the inside knowledge and is correct. As an outsider who doesn't know the personnel as well (and I assume Mensch falls into that category) I understand the question.

I give CCH the edge because I think Conner lost a lot more than CCH. Yes, I definitely think Conner can give CCH a game. Games that could be challenging and/or a loss besides the 3 above are Conner, Boone, Dixie and Beechwood. To me CCH is a TD or more favorite over every one of those teams.

Where is the eye-roll emoticon? How did you connect the opinion of a third-party observer with the nonsense in your post?

 

How about, instead of making a crazy leap, tell me why they have the team to go 8-2 or 7-3? I expect the players to be confident, however, I wasn't talking to a 17 year old kid.

there is no reason not to be confident in a strong season.

 

I would be amazed if anyone associated with the Cov Cath program would expect anything less that 8-2, possibly 7-3 with Henderson County being an "unknown".

I don't see all of the love that Hendo gets. It's a big school. I get it, big schools should have good players and good teams. Hendo has never really lived up to its size. To me CC is a favorite in that game and seven others. Being a dog vs. Moe and H is no insult. To me CC has to be careful w/ Dixie and Beechwood. They win the rest against teams they are favored against, lose two where they are the dog. Take care of business and 8-2 is in reach, 7-3 is the worst case scenario in my mind.

I think the issue with Henderson is the travel for a Friday night game.

That is a long time on a bus to get off and perform.

Without travel, I would absolutely pick CCH.

With no stop it's 3.5 hours. 4.5 maybe with a stop for dinner? Late night getting back.

Since Henderson is in the Central Time Zone, the drive down while it will still be a long drive will give CovCath a bit more time due to the 1 hour difference in time zones but getting back home, think late, late, late!

What's the word on Birschel's (sp?) foot? I heard that he had injured it.
