Define your last two sentences because there can be a big difference or a linked aspect to those words. In part one could see those as loaded questions

The decision is made to be gay as all are born straight.

I love this! I especially love the "use your tool" T shirt. Nice touch. Personally, I think people are born with their sexual preferences.

In answer to SK, any practices among consenting adults is ok IMO.

In related news. Next week Minnesota is going to become the 12th state to allow gay marriage.

I strongly believe people are born gay. I know of a family that has three kids in their twenties, and each of them is gay/lesbian to my knowledge. Now I don't know if one acted a certain way because of the older ones. But to me that's enough evidence that there is something is switched on or off at birth as to sexual preference.

The notion that millions would "choose" a lifestyle that - recent trends notwithstanding - results in condemnation, monumentally increased risk of life-threatening disease, marriage inequality, etc. etc. etc. still astonishes me. Here's an interesting take:

I Didn't Choose to be Gay

The notion that millions would "choose" a lifestyle that - recent trends notwithstanding - results in condemnation, monumentally increased risk of life-threatening disease, marriage inequality, etc. etc. etc. still astonishes me.

You don't think millions would choose a lifestyle, recent trends not withstanding, that would result in condemnation, monumentally increased risk of life-threatening disease, job inequality (for example), ect. ect.? How about those that have chosen to be involved with drugs and the drug culture, going back to the 60's to now. Just as homosexuality is growing in acceptance so is recreational drug acceptance.

I don't know if it is a choice or not, but while respect your opinion, this argument that people wouldn't make this decision based on perceived hardships doesn't really work for me. People by the millions make life choices that are bad for them every day, but they make them for their own personal reasons.

I'm not saying one way or the other but the fact that 3 siblings are all gay/lesbian could also give credence to outside environmental forces being the reason as well.

God would not allow for someone to be born gay. You are allowed a choice in life. Why would God allow for a baby to be born gay and go to hell.

Apples and kumquats.

And while I don't know if homosexuality is a choice, I strongly suspect that it is not.

In all seriousness, ref; I urge you to read the article linked in post #8. I found it a very interesting reflection of a conflicted Christian.

Paul stated that humans have a sinful nature. Our nature is one of sin, in other words. My argument has always been that all humans have this nature of sin, but that the sin isn't always the same in each & every instance.

Paul also says that the goal is to replace the sin nature with God's Holy Spirit, which gives humans the power to combat the sin nature.

I wholeheartedly believe homosexuality is a choice made later in life by many people & I also believe it is an inherent desire by many people.

In homosexuality "equal to" deviant heterosexuality?

In homosexuality "equal to" deviant heterosexuality?

I would say indulging homosexual desires is "equal to" deviant heterosexuality, in that both are outside of God's will.

I add the word "indulging" because of the article you linked above. I met a homosexual man one time who was attached to the same group (Exodus). He basically shared a similar story that the author of the linked article shared, except coming to different conclusions. He said (and I'm paraphrasing here), "I'll always have homosexual desires. Always. God doesn't ask me to get married or desire people of the opposite sex. He simply asks that I not give into my cravings because they are outside of His will."
