Straight people asked a question that gays have been asked for years.

Featured Replies

I chose to be straight when I saw little Susie and Sherry and Cathy and Patty and Christy and Debbie and Darlene and ..................... in Kindergarten:lol:

I remember knowing I was attracted to those girls in elementary school - I didn't choose it, I just knew it. That's the same thing gay people say about their attraction, which leads me to think choice isn't really a factor.

See this is my issue with this line of thinking Randy....Give me a reason. You say I view the scripture as God's word because in Scripture he himself said.....Those verses you quote have zero impact or significance on people who view the Bible as a guide, not as God's word. I want a logical reason as to why I should comdemn homosexuals to an eternity in hell, and don't give me "the Bible says so", because if I don't view the Bible as God's word, why should I care what the verses say?

You're making my point for me, UKMF.

You don't view Scripture as God's word & I do. I can't give you an answer that doesn't include "the Bible says so" because the Bible shapes my worldview (or "logic" as you stated). It does not shape your worldview/logic. We're coming from two totally different standpoints, so we're not standing on common ground.

Without the Bible, I would never in a million years come to a belief where anyone would spend eternity in hell. I'll go even further...without the Bible I would never in a million years come up with a concept of eternity at all. You live, you die & that's that.

That video is brilliant!

Plain and simple... (At least from a man's standpoint) Excuse me for being so blunt

but:

No one chooses what puts starch in their jeans.

That appendage sorta just has a mind of it's own.

It is highly unlikely that the multi-millions of people worldwide who are gay "chose" something that instantly subjects them to social ostracism, scorn, laughter, condemnation, bullying, gossip, and an all around uneasy feeling from the majority of society. Sure, there's some folks in society that take pleasure in going against the grain, but if you talk to any homosexual who knew from early childhood that they felt that way, it certainly had nothing to do with them wanting to be different. Most you will find will state that if they had a choice, they would be just like everyone else, but no matter how much they tried to wish it away, the feelings would not go away.

Somewhere along the way the homosexual just has to see if for what it is, and come to the conclusion that the majority of society does not understand. When approaching adulthood, it ultimately just becomes psychologically healthy to accept themselves, and quit trying to appease to the majority. It's a lifetime adjustment knowing that you will go through life having to face all sorts of ugly opinions, but ultimately you have to come to the realization that if you're not living your life truly as you are, then life is not worth living. It's a lifetime journey, and the lucky ones have loving families and friends who accept them. It becomes very important to be selective about who is in your life, otherwise you can be miserable.

For those who still think that it's a choice... (You don't have to follow this thought, but if you can find it within yourself to think it through... "Get a Grip")

I guess I just need to come to terms with that somewhere along the way that I have become a radical extremist for believing that The Bible is Gods spoken word. Oh well, so be it!

The decision is made to be gay as all are born straight.

...And you know this because?

God would not allow for someone to be born gay. You are allowed a choice in life. Why would God allow for a baby to be born gay and go to hell.

Wow... Please tell me you are just being sarcastic for the sake of demonstrating how some can have a sheer lack of understanding. If not, all I can say is "Wow".

... and when did you choose to be straight and a Bible thumper?

Don't take anything he posts seriously. He's easily the most closed-minded intolerant person on the board.

I've always found it rather ironic that those who proclaim to be "saved", and quote scripture at every turn are the most judgmental people around....:idunno:

I know gay people that wish they were straight because it's accepted and "the norm". Takes choice out of the equation for me.

We can't even begin to understand how God works, why He does what He does or chooses to let us do. You're thinking like a mere human being, not like God thinks. Look at birth defects. How many times do we ask why when something happens that is out of the norm?

No I do not understand everything, but as far as God speaking. Here is what is said.

“‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. (Leviticus 20:13 NIV)[3]

Says who? Come on, now. Children are born with deficiencies and deformaties all of the time. God makes people the way that they are for a reason. He loves them all equally. It is us who feels that they know who will go to Heaven and Hell. That is our arrogance.

... and when did you choose to be straight and a Bible thumper?

Bible thumper? We obviously have different definitions of that.

You don't shave, do ya? You don't eat pork either? Leviticus says those are detestable as well.

^ Old Levi doesn't often translate well to this day and age.
