Male losing to Manual in '01 would be considered by many to be a big upset. Their only loss to Manual from 1989 - present. Male had Bush, Blackerby, Spencer, etc... the only familiar name from Manual that year would be Keenan Burton.

Who was the other RB on that team? I remember our scouting report on them that year they had two top RB's, Bush as top reciever, and a solid QB who went down mid year. This was the season Lex Cath mildly upset them on their field in a pretty wicked storm.

I don't know about ever but this year in the Class 2A Regional Semifinals when Sheldon Clark beat Leslie Co. I thought that it was a pretty big upset.

Upset yes. Biggest ever. Not even close.

How about Nelson County over Trinity in the 1996 semi-state? And for extra credit, name the only team to beat Nelson that year.
Something tells me ... Bardstown. ;)

In western Kentucky ... Murray beating Mayfield 7-0 in the second round of the 1997 Class A playoffs. Murray returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and did very little offensively, but Mayfield fumbled the ball an ungodly number of times.

Second choice ... Bowling Green over Paducah Tilghman 31-24 in overtime in the Class 3A regional finals in 1991. Tilghman had beaten two of Tennessee's three eventual state champions (Brentwood Academy and nationally-ranked Oak Ridge) on the road and, with a talent base that contained at least eight or nine future Division I-A and I-AA players, seemed headed to Louisville for the fifth time in seven seasons.

How talented was that Tilghman team? Four players (Billy Jack Haskins, Norman Mason, Kiyo Wilson and Michael Woodfork) saw action at UK, a defensive lineman played at Illinois and several others played on the I-AA level. It is probably one of the best teams to fail to win a state title.

Lawrence Co over Russell in 1992 in double overtime in the playoffs. Russell had beaten LC at home by about 40 earlier in the year. Russell was the Regional favorite that year. LC went to Russell in the playoffs without LC's starting QB and was tied 6-6 at the end of the game. Russel scored in OT but got the conversion blocked. LC scored and missed their XP. Russel was held to a FG in 2OT and LC scored a TD on the 2nd play.

Lawrence Co over Breathitt Co 1997. Breathitt Co had won 42 straight games before rolling into Louisa. LC pulled off the upset led by Jason Micheal at QB.

Burbon Co 1997. Their whole run going through Lawrence Co, Lex Cath etc was the greatest Cinderella run in state championship history IMO.

Greatest single game upset IMO was Prestonsburg 1993 upseting Danville at Danville. Danville had one of their better teams ever and was on a huge winning streak before the Blackcats led by Coach Bill Letton and the TD twins (Seth Hyden + Dwayne Garza) came to Danville and pulled off the upset.
