Saw Hunter Myer today at a work out...kid is going to be REALLY GOOD.

He was going against kids that ranged from freshmen to 1st yr college players and he was holding his own at both ends. Would love to see him in a game this summer against kids his own age.

If those two guys can't teach them to be successful in KY hoops, I don't know who can.

All 4 of those guys have a ton of playing and coaching experience. Those kids will be blessed with a wealth of knowledge. After watching Maze's practice the other night, I came away very impressed. They are running college-level drills and it isn't just show up for fun and games. They are working hard and improving their games. Very refreshing to see solid coaching at the AAU level.

Wireman the 2nd practice was even more intense if that was possible. They will be together again tonight for#3, can't wait too see what the coaches have in store for them. Very nice write up,thanks for all you do for Ky Youth Basketball.

Apologies for the formatting on the previous post. That's what their coach sent me.

This question I'm directing toward Walter because I feel like he would be the one most likely with the answer, but does anyone know if any of the Holmes Varsity roster is playing AAU anywhere other than Bolden?

I know a majority this past year were seniors, but thought that Chames and maybe Housely would be playing summer ball somewhere.

Don't know about summer basketball for the varsity Bulldogs, but here's an entertaining piece of information: this spring, Englemon, Chames, and Costen are reportedly playing BASEBALL for Holmes, or at least trying.

If Quinton can connect, I would imagine that ball's gonna go a long way....

You seem to be "in the know" regarding this team. Can u tell me if/how Chandel Shanklin is affiliated with them?

Just curious. Thanks.

Chandel Shanklin son or step son is Bryan Cummings from South Warren, I do know that.

Come on PP, where's the love? JK?.Seriously,Hoop Dreams 15U will be good again. They won state last year and did really well on the national circuit as well. They are pre-season #13 in the nation in Division 1 AAU club power rankings. Also 16U team won state last year, and added one of the best players in the state in Dikembe Dixon. Don't know if you've had the chance to see him play but WOW. The 17U group looks impressive as well. The 15U team gets to go against both teams in practice, so I've gotten to see the talent. The guy that founded the program, Mike Scott, knows his stuff. He's also the actial coach of the 15U team. Looking forward to the season!
where does Dixon play high school ball at?? I've heard he is a really nice player. Is he playing with wills team?? If so, watch out!! I'd love to see hoop dreams 16u take on Louisville magic 16u. That would be a game!! Magic 16u beat the 17u last weekend in a scrimmage

Dixson is from Ashland. He is a very nice player. Long, very athletic. He needs to develop a jumpshot. If that happens he has a very high ceiling. Needs work on his handles, but those things are nothing more than work. He has a very thin frame and has the capacity to hold some meat on his bones. He has a pretty solid attitude also, could end up being a terrific player.

Dixon plays for Blazer. Transferred from Huntington last year. I agree with what was said - he could use extra weight and could stand to improve his jump shot. Regarding ball handling, he plays a 3 so that's probably adequate already, though any player could benefit from improving in that area. All of that said, he's a legit 6'6" to 6'7." And very long. Even with room for improvement in those areas, he already stands out in a gym full of quality athletes and players from 15U - 17U. Will's comment was that he is "NBA athletic." If he works, and he's with the right guy (Mike Scott) to do that, his ceiling is as high as anyone I've seen in the state in any grade. And as was said he does appear to have a good attitude as well, which is a key.

And Will plays for the 15U team, but Dixon plays for the 16 U team. The two teams scrimmage regularly and it's a battle. Hopefully the Magic 16U and HOop Dreams 16U meet up along the way (at least at state). Should be a good one.

NBA athletic? I must have watched a different player. No offense to him, but that's a remarkable stretch. I hope he gains weight, because he's sure fun to watch.
