Sorry he plays for the NKY Legends 15U team.

Who is coaching this team? I think in the past the Legends team was primarily Holmes' freshman class as one team.

Is there a pending fued between Magic and Travelers. Following the twitter account of a Magic Coach (_M) that proclaims self greatness in bragging about his teams # 8 national ranking while wanting to know where the Travelers are. It is good to know that a rivarly in Ky this summer will be fun to follow. I think its funny how big $ programs take D1 talent and market their coaching ability when the D 1 players goes D 1 and then they become the next Coach Wooden. I guess those coaches love reading their own hype. Does anyone know the rosters for these two programs? Are there any other talented AAU programs in Ky that can sneak in and suprise these two goliaths? A good coach doesnt recruit committed players and can beat you with his team and then beat you with your team - thats coaching. What would be the best tournaments to watch these teams play? Please respond. Also, why is there no talk of the Ville - they were really good last year?

This link has the Travelers roster on it.

IMO the feud began last season when the Travelers announced that they were setting up shop in Ky and that they would field the best team in Ky and they weren't shy about saying they would go after every player in the state to make them a Traveler. I believe they got Brandon Hatton and Jackson Davis(I am thinking he was on the Magic at one time) from the Magic. Everyone else played for different teams last season. I believe Kapinga played for Hoop Dreams last season. With D'Angelo Russell gone from the Magic the Travelers have what I believe is the best looking team on paper in the state.

I could be wrong but with the Travelers playing in the EYBL the only opportunity for these two teams to play would be at the AAU State tourney in mid-May at KBA. I believe that tourney is to qualify for nationals. With the Travelers in the EYBL I am not even sure if they care about that tourney. If BGP member Travelers Tradition sees this post or thread he would be the one to answer if a Travelers/Magic feud is real and if these two fine teams will ever meet. If they do....PP92 and PP92 Jr. will be in the house.

The only decent AAU coach I've ever met was JustJim.

After 6 years, organizing teams, calling parents, begging for gym time for practice, scheduling tournaments, playing taxi driver, filling out paperwork, getting birth certificates, being a chef, washing uniforms (and whatever else the kids bring over), and dealing with some absolute characters at the gyms. I miss it already. A lot of good memories.

After a while you get used to it. :) It isn't the same as it was just a few years ago so after the first year you start not to miss it. I love Europe ball now and FIBA! It's a lot better, and overall the people are better, I won't post why. :sssh:

What is legal in terms of what AAU team sponsors can provide for players? It is not uncommon to see college prospects have problems related to something that went on in aau ball.

A team that included several of his HS teammates, not playing in as many national-type tournaments, and was being coached by a relative of some sort. Again, just rumor.

Sounds like the old Roar team coached by one of the parents. Schuh, Schumate and Theobald were at the Shining Stars tryouts. Romes didn't attend due to an injury.

The U15 KY Select Basketball Team is looking for a PG and another post player to complete their summer roster.

If interested, please email [email protected]

The U14 KY Select Basketball Team coached by James Pouncy won their initial tournament of the year this weekend going 6-0. I don't know the name of the tournament (held at Landmark Christian) or who is on the roster and where the boys will be attending High School in the fall. If anyone has that info that they could post it would be nice to see where these guys will be playing next year.

Crons as an organization will not be back from what I understand. however I saw something about that same core of kids playing for another organization. (Not sure if that's true)

Hester is getting married and won't be coaching AAU this summer.

Seth Blevins who also did an outstanding job with the U16s last year for Crons could not commit for this year as well. I think some of his old players went to Shining Stars tryouts.

I love AAU basketball and have become a bigger fan of it over the years. Honestly it is where the kids get recruited now especially the smaller college prospects. However, stories like the ones above about kids leaving for this program or that one, is one of the reasons AAU gets its bad name and leads to problems. Parents and kids start bidding for the best handouts so to speak. I saw the picture from the travelers where the comment was "this is what we get and more on the way." I have no problem with the Travelers coming to Ky but since their announcement earlier in the year, there have been constant rumors about whose gonna play for who. I have been told that for teams to have EBYL status they have to have certain players on their teams or they don't get it. So the offers start coming and kids leave their teams for the best deal. Not saying I blame them just saying it leads to the negative views of AAU.

As the kids say (or text): tru tru. I think we've all noticed that "regular" AAU has begun to take on that EYBL flavor: some players and parents moving from organization to organization searching for more clock and more exposure without much attention to player development, and some organizations recruiting and turning players over like crazy with just as little attention to player development. My biggest concern is that this approach may be gaining momentum in school ball as well. If anyone can think of a solution, or even present a different view, I would be hungry to see it.

I was in a gym and noticed the Angel kid. He really has great hops. He was easily above the rim.

Just curious. Who won the covcath 3 on 3 tournament?

In the Incoming Freshman division (oldest).

The team that won was:

Anthony Best

Matthew Theil

Brent Angel

Gunnar Schuh

Coached by: Johnny Theil

All will be incoming Freshman at CCH in the fall. I believe they beat a squad from Walton in the finals.
