I'm hearing rumors that the magic might be loosing snider & Russell. Snider's dad got a text from Derrick Rose asking to have his son on his squad. Who knows how things will shake out

At one time he was. However, I believe he got into trouble at a Football game at J-Town where he threatened an official. I believe he had a son playing.

It was his brother. And it was more over his little brother's lack of playing time

I love the Magic but losing Russell and Hatton makes them the second best AAU team in the state on paper IMO. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Snider leave or stay though. I do know Snider practiced with the Magic yesterday but that doesn't mean he can't switch teams today.

I love AAU basketball and have become a bigger fan of it over the years. Honestly it is where the kids get recruited now especially the smaller college prospects. However, stories like the ones above about kids leaving for this program or that one, is one of the reasons AAU gets its bad name and leads to problems. Parents and kids start bidding for the best handouts so to speak. I saw the picture from the travelers where the comment was "this is what we get and more on the way." I have no problem with the Travelers coming to Ky but since their announcement earlier in the year, there have been constant rumors about whose gonna play for who. I have been told that for teams to have EBYL status they have to have certain players on their teams or they don't get it. So the offers start coming and kids leave their teams for the best deal. Not saying I blame them just saying it leads to the negative views of AAU.

I hear what you are saying. It is disappointing to see where the Magic were 2 years ago when it was Snider, Russell, Grundy, Green, Owens, Cunningham, Hatton(he did leave his team midseason to play with the Magic) and maybe one other kid and they dominated the state of Ky and went on to win a couple of national tournaments in the 15u and 16u age group. Now in their last year we won't get to see the finished product together. I do believe they added Kelan Martin and LeMontray Harris last season and even Jackson Davis for a spell. Correct me if I am wrong. The initial 15u group of Snider/Russell and company made the Louisville Magic brand name what it is today.

AAU teams seem to be like colleges as far as recruiting but the kids can come and go as they please. Unlike college.

I'll be down there next Sat to watch them and I talk to Jesse Sizemore on a regular basis so I'll have updates throughout the summer.

That would be great. Thanks.

Legends Elite 15U

Brennon Englemon (Holmes), Andrew Arnold(Holmes), Camyrn Snapp(Augusta), Tyrek Owens(Ryle), Michael Scott(Conner), Erik Anderson(NCC), Brian Anderson(NCC), Ayo Omoloja , Tanner Pugh (Pendelton),Blake Donavan (Boone)

I saw on twitter that they won a tournament this weekend. What tournament was it and where was it?

Locally (northern kentucky), teams to keep an eye on are the KY Timberwolves (15u), NKY Bulldogs 15u & 16u, and the Shining Stars (all HS age groups 14u-17u).

I'm not sure how long the Timberwolves have been around, 2-3 years maybe, but they were a very solid team. They unloaded some players from last year and reloaded with some new talent. They should be very competitive locally, regionally, and possibly nationally.

The NkY Bulldogs have been around for about 10 years in N.Ky. There 16U team has been pretty well in tact for 3 years, but some changes have been made through the years. The 15u team lost some talent from last year, but from what I've heard, they have reloaded and got better. Like the TWolves, they should be real solid locally, and regionally, and will compete on the national level in some tournaments.

The Shining Stars almost always put together a formidable roster and they have been around for quite some time in NkY, maybe 7-8 years or more. I have heard (only rumor) that they lost quite a bit from their Northern Kentucky team from last year, but as they usually do, they'll replenish the talent pool. Like the TWolves and Bulldogs, the Shining Stars will put together a strong roster and will compete locally, regionally, and nationally.

In the past few years each of these teams have done a really solid job of competing outside of the local area, which has been great for the local talent. Most of the teams aren't built around 2 or 3 superstars, as many AAU teams sometimes are, but are built as a team, where each players knows his role.

Good luck to all teams and local players!

I've heard the soph Shining Stars team will consist of the following:

Liam Rabe- Dixie

Bo Schuh- Covcath

Deandre (???) Jackson- Campbell Co

Conner Kunstek- St Henry

Zach Pangallo- Newcath

Robert Tubbs- Sycamore...possible nky transfer???

Someone correct me if any of those names are incorrect.

Team Manimal will be playing on the15u national circuit with some of the states top talent.

The U15 KY Select Basketball Team is looking for a PG and another post player to complete their summer roster.

If interested, please email [email protected]

The U14 KY Select Basketball Team coached by James Pouncy won their initial tournament of the year this weekend going 6-0. I don't know the name of the tournament (held at Landmark Christian) or who is on the roster and where the boys will be attending High School in the fall. If anyone has that info that they could post it would be nice to see where these guys will be playing next year.

I have heard that Jackson is playing with the NKY Bulldogs. Someone also told me that Kunstek would be with the Club Ohio team.

I heard that Schuh isn't guaranteed to play with the Stars as some other "offers" have come in from higher profile nationally ranked teams.

Isn't Pangallo playing baseball?

If it is the same Shining Stars team from last year you will have Grant Romes, Matthew Schumate and Cooper Theobald from CCH. I believe Jason Covington was on the team as well from NCC.

This was the team that also had McDonald. That would be a huge loss for any team.
