March 17, 201313 yr Do you remember the very 1st MLB game you attended? I certainly do. Mine was August 19th, 1974. Local hero Don Gullett was the starting pitcher. Joe Morgan hit 2 HR, including a Grand Slam. The Reds pounded the Phllies 15-2. We spent the night in Cincinnati and returned the next night to watch Clay Kirby throw a complete game as the Reds beat the Phillies again 7-1. Here are the box scores for those 2 games. Notice the time on both of the games. My how that has changed over the years. March 17, 201313 yr August 10, 1963 at Crosley Field. Dodgers at Reds, Drysdale vs Purkey. We had box seats behind visitors dugout and my Dad HATED Drysdale. After a few "pops", my Dad started to get on Drysdale and at one point Drysdale started shouting back at him. As a kid I was kind of scared of all the yelling back and forth. After a couple more innings I remember the ushers coming down and asking us to move. Of course my Dad didn't want to move and next thing I knew we were on our way home.
