Holmes used their strength of superior ball handling and quickness to spread NCC out, which in turn created more room for their guards to do work. Spreading NCC out and making them play defense for long stretches was plain old smart basketball, not boring. The Cooper game was boring. Its funny that Holmes played to their strengths and won the game and now folks are crying about the rules. Sad.

Please put a shot clock in for high school .Same old Holmes stall ball when up by more then 3 PTs.Gets boring.

Another key was Holmes winning the third quarter. I don't know this for a fact but I would bet the third quarter has been NCC's best quarter by far all year long. Basically the margin that Holmes won the third quarter was the margin of the game.

Yes it was smart coaching,but it still made it boring. Put in a shot clock and no coach and no team can play the stall game and it will make it a more exciting game.

Not Saying NewCath wouldn't of done it if they were up 6 with 3 mins to go. What I'm saying they did it in the first half. Like or not Holmes played stall ball in that half so NewCath couldn't build a bigger margin going into half. It does make the game boring sometimes and you wouldn't inspect that from a Holmes team.

I don't think Holmes was stalling the ball, I think Holmes was stuggling to find a offensive set Newcath was playing solid defense. However if that was the case and the dogs was stalling the ball I think their game plan worked and got them what they needed. I say good coaching in that case. Why let a team build a bigger margin? That wouldnt make any sense, you coach and play to win Not to lose by letting a team get a bigger margin. Why is it ok for NCC to stall the ball but when Holmes do it its a problem and a boring game.:idunno:

I wonder how many of these points/rebounds came late in the game (final 3 or 4 minutes) when Holmes had already seized some control of the game by going up 10 points. I didn't think either showed up for the first 3.5 quarters of the game.

 

I am sure Seibert and Beuter are great kids and provide wonderful leadership, however, for the second straight year they disappeared in the regional tournament game that the Breds lost.

 

In my opinion, McDonald was the only one who really showed up for the Breds tonight. In the 4th quarter, I do agree he may have been worn down a bit, but give Holmes credit for sagging off other Breds and playing help defense on him, not allowing him to get the ball down low like he did the previous 3 quarters. It seemed he had to go out further and further to get his touches.

 

 

 

Thank you for coming around Clyde! After watching more than a few games for each NCC and Holy Cross, I think Drew is the best big man in NKY with Campbell a close second. He has some very nice moves down low and is very fundamentally sound. Congratulations Drew on a great sophomore season with All A State MVP, District MVP and I am sure All Region Team. I am sure I am missing other awards as well, however, congratulations on coming up big for the Breds this year.

 

I think Schulte needs to be more consistent in his game. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of his stats came late in the game as well.

 

When you have three starters not show up, it is going to be tough to beat a good team like Holmes.

Schulte is simply raw on offensive end. He needs to spend the summer working on his touch from about 5ft to 10 ft out and his post moves. McDonald is so far ahead of him on touch around the rim, post moves, and jump shot/FT's. You can only get away with being so athletic for so long. I would like to see him improve in these areas which will make NCC that much better next year when you throw in Weyer.
