February 2, 201313 yr My girlfriend is a waitress. When we go out to eat we usually always drop 20%. If service is good we go to 25% if bad we go to 15%.
February 2, 201313 yr My buddy serves. 30% is our base. We always get asked which one of our group serves when we go out.
February 2, 201313 yr I don't think it's bad thing. Without me my wife would struggle figuring 20% of the tab. Some just aren't good at math without a calculator.

February 2, 201313 yr 25 % here. 25 % or nothing. I'm very easy to please. Keep my glass filled and take my order in a timely manner. If the service is average or better, you get 25%. If the service is worse than average, you get nothing.

February 2, 201313 yr 15% should no longer be considered the standard. Why? So we can pay for the business owner to have cheap staff? February 2, 201313 yr I'll do 20% minimum. If it's a small tab, say $6 or so, I usually end up leaving 50-75% just because I feel bad spending an hour or so being waited on to leave $1-2. They deserve to be fairly compensated for their time IMO.
