Who is gonna be the best in 3A next year?

Any chance this kid takes over at QB? I hear he's a stud athlete. Could we possibly see a switch to maybe a wishbone/option type offense? Good line, a few good RB's and a great athlete at QB, sounds like the 'Birds may be able to play some smashmouth football.

JC would go to QB if Dale adopts the wishbone triple option attack...and NEVER throw. Jay Draper will be the QB and the ball will be in the air and on target. The question is "who can catch" ???

I agree Draper will be the QB,but with 2 backs like Kramer & Conner, I don't think the ball will be in the air all that much.

I wouldn't get to carried away with Jay at Qb, I'd bet Clay Cecil still has a shot at Qb also. I just think that Dale is going to run the ball more than throw and that would make Clay a better choice for Qb.

I have also heard good things about the newest Cecil kid. It seems to me like he would make an excellent tripple option quarterback. He is probably going to be one of the most athletic sophmores in the state. I will just keep dreaming about the option and wishbone thing........ Maybe some day........

Do not forget about Hurtt and Ball at RB. Ollie Head (soph) is also a gifted athlete, that will get carries. Even with all these running backs and a very good O line I still would not be suprised to see a passing attack. I really do not see anyone but Draper leading that attack. Also look for the backup to be underclassmen. Guidigli and Turner will battle for that spot.

They'll be fine next year, but this may upset some people,I don't believe Letton is of the same caliber when it comes to in-game decision making as Sphire and this will really hurt them if they try to run the same offense next year. Also anytime you lose possibly the best QB in the state's history let alone team history, you are going to have some trouble finding a replacement. One of the tings that will help Catholic rebound quickly is the fact that their district is very weak and they will be able to win some games late and build confidence heading into the playoffs. To answer the question about specific players, Catholic's got tons of playmakers , but far and away their biggest is Shane Israel, he is a threat to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball.

No question that the poor little weak public schools in LC's district will be the underdog when they go up against the Mighty Lexington Catholic Machine, but I know there is a pretty good quarterback that will be a senior next year in this district and he does not play for Catholic. He will bring all he's got and I'll guarantee he will quietly be working his tail off in the off season. These weak sister district opponents don't mind taking on the underdog mentality and one of these days it will pay off.

From what I hear, Dale is considering several different styles of offense and will use spring ball to experiment around. It wouldn't surprise me (and I would enjoy seeing it) if the power I offense of old returned to the Birds. Ball would make one heck of a fb. Hurtt would be a great tb and Kramer would be a prototypical Highlands wing back. Head, Conner, Marchetti and Urlage would be great subs and may even challenge for starting positions. With almost their entire offensive line returning, an inexperienced qb and all those great running backs, the power I would be perfect. Add to that equation some talented and very good blocking tight ends, and it would be a good offense for Highlands. Factor in Dale's desire to always try and do something on offense that other schools aren't doing much of anymore, and it makes sense to me. We'll see. When does spring ball start? I want the Birds basketball team to go deep into the season, but I'm ready for spring ball.

Dale has a good problem, he actually has Draper, Mcgraw and Cecil to choose from for the QB position. I can't see moving Connor from RB to QB, the kid is a natural at RB and Highlands has plenty of talent to choose from at the QB position.

Don't count Ashland or Johnson Central out. Remember the Region Championship is in District 8 next year.

That hasnt stopped Bell or Rock from taking the regional crown from '00 to the present...... and I dont think that changes this season with Bell and Rock losing very little, and basically returning fully intact.

What does Bell Co have returning on the line next year?

Not for sure exactly...... but they dont lose a whole lot upfront. A few offensive starters and a few defensive starters.

Return basically everything at LB, DB, RB, QB, TE, and WR position (with the exception of Buckeye Hunter and Jeff Howard).

They will have a new LB next year. Charlie Cox is a senior.

I don't think Josh Conner will be much of a sub in 2006. Everyone remember his name because in the next three years you will be hearing his name alot. It will be hard for Dale to keep Josh Conner off the field. Anybody remember Justin Frisk, this kid will bring the same talent, if not better!!!!!

They return Brent Slusher however, as well as another LB, not sure of his name.

I said practically everyone...... not "everyone." :D

I think Highlands should have another nice season on their hands (as they always do anyways). They return most of their team and one of their QB's too I believe.

Cov Cath I know returns a few starters from last year. I know the lose Drew Ellison, but #15 (not sure on the name) looked like he was pretty good quarterback when I saw them play a couple times last season.
