Are the Birds looking at similar situation as 2 years ago? Uncertainty, court injunctions, politicing, negative media,are all distractions this team does not need. I am doing an about face here, but if the KHSAA says no play then is it worth all of this to fight it?

Can't blame the Ledney matter on Brigid. She followed the rules. It was really up to the BOC to waive the rule, which I think they should have under the circumstances. But again, Brigid handled this one correctly from my perspective.

 

Malachi, its impossible for me to say if this case will follow the Mitchell track. I think Highlands will have to very careful how they handle this one, given the probation the football program is on as a result of Mitchell. The school better be ready to take their case to the Ky Supreme Court and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees if the do what they did with Mitchell. I'd be surprised if they play Ledney if he gets an injunction although they should in my opinion. I just think the threats of more sanctions, including loss of membership in the KHSAA, will intimidate the school into not playing him even if he gets an injunction (which is exactly the message the KHSAA wanted to send); thus depriving Ledney the benefit of the judicial process and due process procedures.

In Ledney's defense though, it is obvious that there was no infraction. He isn't older than any of the other kids in his grade, I have heard that he had some problems with his grades at Latin, and his family and him wanted to get him back onto the right track. Brigid, in my oppinion should be considering what is best for the kid, in each situation.

Given the politics involved with the BOC, I understand Brigid's philosophy here. By the way; the hearing officer recommended that the BOC waive the rule and allow Ledney to play. The BOC overruled the recommendation.

That remains to be seen...... as does Dino's comment that you responded too. Based off last season's results....as well as what tradition has showed us..... the regional title is indeed a two way race between Rock and Bell with Rock having the obvious advantage.

 

The best 3 teams in the region last year were Rock, Bell, & Madison Southern. Madison Southern is hurting from graduation meaning that Ashland and Johnson Central will have a shot..... but Bell and Rock return practically everything, and that doesnt bode well for the rest the teams in the region. If it doesnt come down to Rock and Bell I will be completely suprised..... and it will take a complete upset of one of those 2 teams in order for Rock and Bell not to meet in the regional finals.

I totally agree...... but its not cockiness, just the facts! I'm not saying that Ashland or Jonhson Central doesnt have a chance, I'm just saying that...... base off the recent past, and the returning rosters of Rock and Bell, its a slim chance.

Defensively, we have two LBs who will be third-year starters in Chris Tucker and Tucker Jackson. Tucker hits a ton but is a little on the small side for a big college.

 

How big are these two guys? I saw them play twice last year and neither one of them looked small to me.

TRUE. Every year is a different year. Rock and Bell are great rivalries. 2006 could go either way. It is by no means a domination of either team.

As bad as I hate to say it.........I would totally agree with you, and disagree with freshstart. Bell has only beaten Rock twice since '00. Both of those were regular season games. When Bell and Rock meet in the playoffs Rock is something like 4-0 against Bell. Alot of those games have been battles, but Rock holds the obvious advantage, especially come playoff time. HOWEVER, Bell stands the best chance of beating Rock...... better then any other team in the region, but it will be a tall order for Bell, or anyone for that matter.

 

Unlike some ppl on this board I dont have a problem admitting when my team is not as superior as another team. I support my team allllllll the way, but I am not a homer by any means.
