I don't think Josh Conner will be much of a sub in 2006. Everyone remember his name because in the next three years you will be hearing his name alot. It will be hard for Dale to keep Josh Conner off the field. Anybody remember Justin Frisk, this kid will bring the same talent, if not better!!!!!

 

 

You know Boom, you may be right, but its a big adjustment from freshman ball to varsity ball. Other than a little bit of blow out action at the end of the varsity season, you were watching Conner compete with kids his same age. Playing against kids two years older than you is a whole different game. Don't get me wrong: I think he'll be a real good varsity player......eventually. He may even get some playing time with the starters next year. I just don't see him being as good next year as a lot of people are hyping him to be (then again, I hope they are right and I'm wrong). This year's sophomore class was hyped through the roof, and they played very well for sophomores, but I can't think of any one of them that regularly dominated the opposition. I see Conner doing the same. Making contributions as a sophomore. Take care.

Right on with the soph class. Getting to play against the powerhouses that Highlands plays, will pay huge dividends for them in the next 2 years. Lets not forget the incoming seniors. As juniors last year they also went through the battles. As a group the seniors and juniors to be will be a formidable group. Go Birds!

Rockcastle Co

No question that the poor little weak public schools in LC's district will be the underdog when they go up against the Mighty Lexington Catholic Machine, but I know there is a pretty good quarterback that will be a senior next year in this district and he does not play for Catholic. He will bring all he's got and I'll guarantee he will quietly be working his tail off in the off season. These weak sister district opponents don't mind taking on the underdog mentality and one of these days it will pay off.

 

While I don't think the weak district comment directly applied to Franklin Co. this season it still is pretty accurate as an overall assessment, no one has beaten the Knights in district and Harrison has been closest of late. Problem is that few of the teams in the district are consistently good and many are only a season or two of mediocracy before going back down. So while I think this year Franklin Co. has a great chance of pulling off an upset against a team doing a little rebuilding and reshuffling until the district consistently competes w/ the Knights, I find nothing wrong w/ calling it weak.

Yeah , Ammons is good and Franklin Co. has some good athletes, but be real, they are not in the same league as Lex. Catholic on a year in and year out basis, if you don't believe me check out these numbers!!Since 1998 Catholic's record in district play is :46-2 , ok thats stat one, and the two lossses were to BOYLE CO. when the knights were in 2A, since joining 3-A, Catholic has not lost a district game!! This includes 5 regular season BLOWOUT wins over Franklin Co., including this past years 62-28 crushing they laid on Franklin Co.

 

Finally here are Lexington Catholic's records against district foes since 1998(reg. season):

Owen Co. 2-0

That is why I said Lexington Catholic plays in a weak district, because they do. Nearly everyone who plays HS Football works their tail off if they care, that still doesn't mean the team they played on is any good. So yes the little brother publics in Catholic's division (sans Harrison) is very WEAK.

While Catholic probably doesn't scare as many people from the offensive end right now, due to the loss of Burke, maybe the defense should. After some growing pains early in Lettons defensive system they had a great run in the playoffs, and agianst teams that people felt would be problems for them with power running games (Rock, BG) They have some good looking juniors to be. If they can plug some guys into a couple of spots, come playoff time, the defensive side of the ball could be as good, or better than last year. Returning Locknane at Middle Linebacker, Guy as an outside backer, and maybe the best cover corner in the state, Revere.

 

One of my friends told me that Minnefield from HC almost went to Catholic. Can you imagine a secondary with him and Revere?

I think he went to one of Lex Cath's feeder Middle Schools. Under the new rule they are supposedly looking at he wouldn't have been able to play at Henry Clay until his Junior year!

Some other people to look for in Lex Cath's defense are Chris Jansen a 300 lb. nose, Andres Rodriguez, a speed rush d-end, and Luke Schuler,a linebacker who was starting the first couple games this past year

That hasnt stopped Bell or Rock from taking the regional crown from '00 to the present...... and I dont think that changes this season with Bell and Rock losing very little, and basically returning fully intact.

 

Yes it does :mad: Mason County won the AAA Region IV Crown in 2003 :eek: And Ashland has been the Regional Finals 2 of the last 3 years so I'm missing why you are claiming the the its always Rock and Bell in the finals???

I believe that in the public schools there are more obstacles to building a program that is consistently competetive than in the private schools, but I do believe it can be done. Should have been a response to thepeopleschamp. His reference to LC's district being weak. The past record shows that it has been as LC has totally dominated. No argument there. My point is that it doesn't have to be. Franklin County has been in total rebuild mode through the efforts of fans, parents and coaches, without the support of the Superintendent. Quite frankly the Superitendent could careless about High School Athletics in Franklin County . That is the reason quality athletes have traveled to Lexington to attend LC (I won't name any because peolpleschamp I'm sure can). Fact of the matter is progress is being made even with the lack of top down support. The perceptions about the programs have to change in order for the quality athletes to stay in Frankfort instead of traveling to Lexington to attend Lexington Catholic. It is an uphill battle but in time things can change.

 

His post of the past records for LC is like putting fuel on the fire of those that are in support of a public/private split, a concept of which I am not in favor.
