He's a legit 6-5. I'm 6-4, and I had to look up slightly to look him in the eyes.

 

I never was at floor level with him. The angle I had it looked like Allen was a good two inches taller. Must have been the angle.

I believe the job Walt Allen did was really overlooked.He held Walker to what?...12 points,the #2 player in the country in 2007.If Im not mistaken only 2 of those was in half court offense the others was on a dunk on a steal of the inbound pass and free-throws.Also with Walker guarding him he still scored 12 and had 8 boards.I think he really helped his Mr.Basketball status unlike Dunaway who was horrible against alot less competition.I also think If Trey Smith takes it to whoever is guarding him like he did Ellis the rest of the season they really have a shot at a re-peat. :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

I love S.Laurel alot but Ithink it would be hard to give Allen Mr. Basketball when he is not even one of the 2 best players on his team. Dunaway has better numbers for the season against better competition for the whole year.

That is craziness...... He and Proffitt are the two best players on that team, and you cant really compare their level of importance to the SL team because they play completely different positions and have completely different roles.

 

As far as Dunaway having better numbers for the season...... you are correct..... but I dont think you can say that he has done so against better competition for the whole year...... SL plays as tough a schedule as any team in the state. Vouch their region isnt the toughest...... but that is why they make it a point to schedule tough competition outside the region.

 

Allen also has something Dunaway doesnt....... a State Championship ring and a Sweet 16 Tournament MVP Trophy. Allen did a whole lot to boost his Mr. Basketball stock tonight and no one can deny that!

 

I also think Allen, Proffitt, and the entire SL team did alot tonight to discredit all this bull about how they are a "non athletic" team, and silence all the critics that are propagating that bull. You dont play NCH the way they did and be "non athletic." NCH has by far the most athletically gifted team of any team that SL will play this season, and is far more athletically gifted then any team in the state of KY. If SL is athletic enough to play with them........ then they are athletic enough to play with anyone.

If South were to win another title, and Allen keeps playing as he has, it would be hard not to see him as a frontrunner for the award. This is not about who has the best potential to be a D1 player. He is the 2nd best player on his team IMHO behind Proffitt, but Ty is not eligible as he is just a junior.

 

As far as tough schedules, South has played against some excellent teams this season, including NCH, who are probably ranked higher than anyone Dunaway has played to date. Their district and region may not offer them a great deal of competition this season, so they have played against some very good teams, in and out of Kentucky, to beef up that schedule.

I agree with you. If you take the big 6'11" kid out of the middle SL wins the game. He had a big presence inside. He intimidated by altering shots.

This game was not worth 10 dollars... It seemed like NCH was taking them lightly Bill walker could score and time he wanted but didn't Mayo didn't seem to play good defense and got himself in foul trouble early... Not a good Effort from NCH.

I dont think you give it to Allen because he made it to Rupp...... I think you give it to Allen because he was the MVP at Rupp, and has continued playing well throughout this season!!! I dont think alot of people understand the class of players that Allen is in, just from the fact that he was named sweet 16 tourney MVP.

 

As far as better teams from top to bottom..... I doubt Henry Clay meets any team as talented as Brentwood or NCH, or 1/2 the teams SL played at the tourney in Carolina. Vouch...... Henry Clay as a much tougher region then SL...... but SL has very few cake games outside of their region games.

A little info thats interesting. S. Laurel has played 2 teams in top 25 and have no remaining games all the way to Rupp. Henry Clay has played 10 teams in top 25 with a possible 9 to get to Rupp. IMO thats a big difference .

Maybe you are right...... however I dont think that discredits what SL did at all. Every team has good and bad nights...... thats the nature of the game.

 

If you take your attitude..... then anytime a top ranked team gets upset by an unranked team its purely and simply a result of the top ranked team taking the other one lightly..... but that isnt always the case, NOR does it really matter if that is the case.

 

SL was given no chance whatsoever...... NCH was supposed to name the score...... and SL gave them all they wanted..... thats the facts and you cant take that away from them.
