The 11th region would be better competition then the state tourney and just because you win mvp of the state is no reason to make you the winner of Mr. basketball. There is no comparison in the comp each has played against. If you look at the ratings the #2 team in the 13th would be rated #12 team in the 11th.

 

LOL...... I agree....but state tourney MVP, IMO, is a pretty big award that should be taken into consideration when you are choosing Mr. Basketball.

 

There is a comparison in the comp each has played and if you dont think so then you are not looking at who SL has played over the last 2 seasons....... just so happens Henry Clay has to play more of it this season...... but that doesnt mean that Allen hasnt performed at a high level against equal competition that Dunaway has. For you to argue that Dunaway plays tougher competition and has great stats and that is why he should win the award, after you have said that SL would beat Henry Clay by double digits is kinda mind boggling to me. If SL would indeed beat Henry Clay by that much, and Henry Clay is one of the best teams in that region, then it goes to show that if SL played the same schedule Henry Clay did, SL and Allen would handle themselves just fine.

 

I agree that the 11th is very very tough and the 13th is extremely weak. But we arent just talking about each teams regional games...... we are talking about what each player has done against the competition they have faced over their entire career.

I agree 100% about your analysis of Proffitt and Smith. I think if Smith can get a little stronger and improve on his athleticism then he has a shot as well, but its a long one. However he is just a sophomore and still has a lot of HS ball left to play.

 

About Proffitt...... I too am not convinced he is a solid D1 prospect just yet...... however he too has 1 more season...... and if he is able to lead SL back to the sweet 16 and win another championship, he may just change my mind. Also..... its very possible Proffitt could be the front runner for Mr. Basketball his senior year is SL makes it back to Rupp and performs well. I think accomplishing either one of these monumental tasks would up Proffitts stock tremendously.

 

Those are the only 2 kids from SL Tubby MIGHT (and thats a big MIGHT) have been looking at.

 

Smith is actually a junior. Smith, Proffitt, Hammonds, Hamm, Conley, etc make up the class that everyone thought would have a shot to bring home at least 1 title to Laurel County before they graduated, ... we just didn't think they would do it as sophomores.

Glenn being a top 25 team in NC is via maxpreps.com..... just wanted to give you a source so you didnt think I was exaggerating and would "call" me out on it! Also..... in case you are wondering how I figured that Mason Co. could be considered by some to be a top 25 team in the state of KY...... that was according to maxpreps.com as well, and based on the fact that they could possibly win their region.

Don;t take any thing away from S. Laurel they have the best team in the state and imo if they played NCH 10 times they could win 5 of them. They play more as a team which makes them Special.

I wouldnt go as far as 5 out of 10 either....... but I wouldnt say 0 either....based on the way SL played them I wouldnt be suprised that if SL played NCH 10 times if they didnt win 1 or 2...... and that in itself would be quite an accomplishment considering that in theory, NCH should beat SL convincingly anytime they play them

Well after watching the Trojans time and time again, I would find it ludacris that you would say that there was homecooking towards South Laurel. North College Hill deserved every foul that they got, if not more.

 

Watching North College Hill makes me sick at my stomach, all of the talent in the world, if not one of the best teams in the US, but ATTITUDES are horrible. Thier show reminds me of a traveling circus. I watched closely to all of the arrangements last night, and it was sickening. I watched the tournament director sucking up to them and even talking about the refs at halftime with some of their loyal fan base. One of the most sickening parts was watching their coach drawing up plays during timeouts and all 5 members kept turning around listening to their BACK-SEAT Coach(A man in the stands). I thought that guy behind the bench did such a good job coaching during the game, that I told him good game coach after the game. That was a riduculous situation and a slap in their REAL Coaches face, but it is his fault to put up with it.

 

All I know, is these are not the same young men that left Rose Hill School, they were gentlemen, and now they feel everyone owes them something. Always great to see players walking onto the court during warm-ups with no desire and some didnt even warm up. They didnt think that they needed to, but almost left with a LOSS. :thumb:

 

Good game Laurel and I will still admit thru all of my frustration that OJ and Bill are the best players that I ever saw :thumb:
