Where did the word that Tubby was watching someone from South?He was there watching the 6'11"guy.You know cause we dont have enough clumbsy 7 footers that dont deserve a Kentucky jersey. :laugh: Westsider why dont you look it up and see what the Wallace kid for Glenn is ranked in North Carolina.That was another one of those games South had "no chance" in.Also I would bet money that by the end of next year Hammonds for South is the big name in the state.Hes been out playing everyone on South of late.If you was there to watch the NCH game you would agree.He didnt act scared even in the begining of the game.But all jokes aside its kind of funny that just because someone lives in Lexington or Louisville they think that a southeastern KY team cant really be that good or that they have had lucky breaks for 2 years.IMO I think I know why that is and its kind of ridiculous that people are still that ignorant.As far as these Corbin guys go If you live around Corbin you know they are all die hard redhounds regardless of the situation.Which you have to appreciate even if it does get under your skin from time to time. But in ending the fact is that South is one great TEAM in every since of the word regardless where you live,your size,your "athletisism"or anything else.

Yeah its kind of hard to argue with either one.But it wouldnt surprise me to see both go to a good b-ball school.Maybe not U.K. but you dont see alot of 6'5" ball handling guards that can shoot lights out and create shots,anywhere.Appreciate the love...just call them like ya see them.Simple-minded,one track minds are irritating.

In my estimation, "top teams" implies something in the neighborhood of a top-10 ranking. Glenn isn't in that category in North Carolina.

 

You exaggerated all three teams. Glenn is good, but not a top team. Reynolds has a losing record and Molloy is essentially a .500 team and unranked in New York.

 

Again, I don't doubt that those teams have some decent talent, but they aren't what you characterized them as.

Glenn being a top 25 team in NC is via maxpreps.com..... just wanted to give you a source so you didnt think I was exaggerating and would "call" me out on it! Also..... in case you are wondering how I figured that Mason Co. could be considered by some to be a top 25 team in the state of KY...... that was according to maxpreps.com as well, and based on the fact that they could possibly win their region.

South Laurel returns three starters from the defending state champions. Anyone that felt they had no chance against a good, not great, team from North Carolina is out to lunch.

Well I guess I'll be in the Corbin minority and say GREAT JOB to South Laurel, I really would have liked to see them pull that one out and I think they made us proud as a state and I'm proud to be a tri county native.

That is totally your opinion....... and besides that, I never said that Mason Co. was a top 25 team in KY, I said that SOME PPL may consider Mason Co. a top 25 team, and therefore they were worth noting when discussing SL's strength of schedule.

Madison Central is also ranked top 25 according to maxpreps.com as well. Just because YOU dont consider them one of the states top teams doesnt mean that they arent. You said you dont know anyone who considers them one of the states top teams........ well I'm sure I could find alot of ppl from Madison Co. who would disagree with you. The fact of the matter is that they beat what is POSSIBLY the best team in the state, and they are among the Cantrall Ratings and maxpreps top 25, so get over it.

As far as in "your estimation" a top team is something like a top 10 team...... once again that is "your estimation" and a pretty bad one at that. If we are going to talk subjectively then you have to throw "your estimation" out the door and go by the rankings...... and Glenn is top 25 in NC.

 

If we were talking college hoops where talent is abdundant, the players are the best in the nation, and upsets are rare, then I would agree with you. However we are talking HS, and its very obvious that in HS bball any top 25 team has a chance to beat any other top 25 team on any given night. I mean SL almost upset NCH for crying out loud. That doesnt mean its likely or that it will happen....... but in HS there is alot of parity. Considering this...... I'd be willing to bet that if you are a top 25 team in your state then you are a pretty good quality team, at least in that state, and deserving of being called a "top team". Glenn is top 25 and a top team in NC....... deny it all you want, but the very ranking you cited disproves you.

Madison Cental and Glenn are both good, quality teams, both ranked in the top 25 of their states, and both formidable opponents. You are right though....... I exaggerated Reynolds and that was totally my bad..... you know what they say about assumptions. However, apart from Reynolds I didnt characterize any of the teams I mentioned as anything but what the rankings and their tradition says they are, and that is good basketball teams.

True they arent ranked...... but once again, they have lost several close games and play some very very good teams week in and week out. I loved how in your last post you refused to recognize their national top 25 ranking in '02 after you tried to hammer me about them not being very good for quite some time.

 

Don't pick and choose what you respond to and what you dont..... and dont try to pass off your opinions of teams as the "true story"...... and please recognize when you have been called out.

 

The facts are Reynolds is terrible (my bad for exaggerating that, I was wrong you were right)..... Madison Central and Glenn are top 25 teams...... Molloy is a traditional NY power and a solid ball team despite their record..... SOME PPL consider Mason to be a top 25 team (and have a very good shot at winning their region), regardless of whether you think they are or not. This includes maxpreps, which you cited several times, and for the sake of consistency you shouldnt downplay Mason's or Madison Central's top 25 ranking on maxpreps just because it goes against your opinion. If you want to cite maxpreps in an attempt to downplay SL's schedule, then you better be prepared to accept your crow when maxpreps strengthens SL's schedule.

JayRay, I live in western Kentucky. No one in my region has played South Laurel in recent years. In fact, I have an acquaintance that is involved in the South Laurel program.

 

The Cardinals are a fine team, one of the best in the state. But, at the same time, some here have exaggerated their strength and that of their schedule. I'm simply challenging those assertions.

Thats all I am saying....... I never tried to make it look like SL had the toughest schedule in KY. My whole original point was that:

 

To argue that Dunaway and Henry Clay have competed against better competition then Allen and SL, and therefore Dunaway deserves the Mr. Basketball trophy over Allen, is total craziness.

 

True Henry Clay competes in a much tougher region then SL. But to claim that Allen has accomplished his feats against less competition then what Dunaway faces is ludicrousy. Sure Dunaway faces it almost every week..... but when you consider that SL is probably a better team then Henry Clay, I think that Allen and SL would do just fine playing Henry Clay's schedule. Although SL's schedule may not be the toughest, it is arguably just as tough as any other top teams schedule in this state.
