I just saw on Facebook that the C-J doctored this lost quite a bit. Apparently had they not doctored it then James Quick would have been 3rd team All State. As a result the C-J is likely coming up with a new process and the days of coaches picking the C-J All State team is likely over.

 

Jason Frakes(BG alumni) is catching heat(playfully) about the lack of BG players on the team. That was his response on Facebook. And yes, part of the reason for my defense of the C-J is because of Jason Frakes. Us Purples stick together always and his recent comments prove me right. It's the coaches' fault. .

 

That the C-J had to doctor the list and it still ended up the way it did.....is really scary. Imagine what the pre-doctored list looked like!

You know, CJ could have created a cheat sheet from the AP list and saved themselves a whole lot of embarrassment.

My point is if you were going by just stats he would be the 1st team qb but Jake is a very good qb and is one of the best. Is he the best?A little under sized and plays within himself and is very smart. To me stats just tell part the story, there are other things that go into selecting these teams.

 

Don't think he would as his total stats do not come up to the level of some of the others. However, I agree that there is much more than just stats that make up a great QB and the selections should reflect that.

Regarding the "doctoring" where does the C-J start and stop? When you move-up Quick, why not correct other obvious errors by moving-up, moving-down, adding or deleting other players? This just creates more credibility issues for the C-J. One example of many is that Johnson Central was blown out by CovCath in the second round 45-15, Johnson Central has 8 players on the list that stay and CovCath has 0 players - why no additions or deletions if the C-J is in a "doctoring" mode?

 

There was at least a little consistency that could be found when comparing the Lexington Herald-Leader Team to the AP All-State Team. So much for leaving it to the coaches to get it "right"; the local level vote-blocking by the coaches must have been at epic levels.

Yeah we were talking about this the other day. Wouldn't having 8 "All-State" players on one team and not winning a State Championship and dominating their class and maybe even the entire State constitute the "worst coaching job ever done" by a high school staff in KY. Just sayin!

That tells a story. They only high school Kentucky player going to the Alamo Dome. The highest ranked Kentucky player in Rivals. And Mr. Football. But only 3rd team....
