December 17, 201213 yr Removing guns is not the answer. All it will do is create a lucrative black market for them. Criminals will still be criminals. More innocent people will be killed and/or victimized when criminals have all the weapons and have no fear of a home owner being able to defend his castle.
December 17, 201213 yr Plenty of former military vets who would work securing schools. Did you see this on TV today? As about an hour ago on Fox News someone said the same thing. A very good idea, who better to protect schools than those who protect our country? You have many of them coming home who will need jobs, plus police departments have too much on their table as it is.
December 17, 201213 yr Let's all offer our prayers and support for elementary school teachers who will most likely have to address this issue on Monday with beautiful, confused, and scared children. My sister teaches 4th graders. She is struggling with developing an answer to the inevitable question of "Can it happen here?" Tough day for many.

I actually had to answer some of these questions today with a ten year old I coach. I strongly empathize with them.

God is in the schools whether the administration lets schools actively practice religion or not. Not having god in the schools is NOT the reason this shooting took place.

My wife and her fellow teachers are meeting for prayer this morning together and are wearing the green and white colors of Sandy Hook.

Where will the school systems get this newfound money for paying this enforcement? If you are thinking the teachers need to be trained, where will this money come from for the training and/or arming them? What about the teachers who would refuse to have anything to do with guns? The local schools already have enough struggles keeping class room sizes small, hiring enough educators, paying educators and now you want to add another amount to that growing number?

That's one tax hike that I wouldn't mind.

Many schools could find the manpower in their parents. I don't own guns, they make me nervous. However I would be more than happy to get trained and stand a watch. Obviously this would carry it's own problems and risks, I'm just throwing it out there as an option.
