That is not an "excuse" nor indictment on these disabilities. However extreme Asbergers (rarely violent I think) can allow someone to slip in deep despondency and even divorce himself from the reality of the fact that these are Kindergarten children.

I think it would be a big mistake to even slightly excuse this act on the basis of Asperger's Syndrome. I know a number of Asperger's people, and they are not any more or less violent than any of us. In fact, because of their condition, I would think they'd be much less likely to commit an act of this nature.

All the shrinks are on the news shows right now. Everything from "commando syndrome", "depersonalization" due to video games, Facebook and the like, etc.

 

Every time one of them starts to talk I feel compelled to change the channel.

And it's too early to know what the young man had going on in his mind now and all the days before. My reason for hesitating in putting it out there was just because of that very thing you mentioned.

 

I do not think the violence and Asbergers are connected. I said Asberger's has the ability to produce depressive states and the ability to divorce reality and reason from what one perceives.

They don't know, but they have been asked to weigh in on mental health issues because almost everyone is saying the same thing: "What kind of CRAZY and EVIL Person is this?"

I'm with you. Imagine the mental toll of seeing that first hand. I teared up while watching the TV coverage.

I started doing that about three months ago,including newspapers.I don't miss it at all.
