Maybe it's time some teachers begin to get trained on weapons and be allowed to carry...

 

I am all for armed janitors.

All the shrinks are on the news shows right now. Everything from "commando syndrome", "depersonalization" due to video games, Facebook and the like, etc.

 

Every time one of them starts to talk I feel compelled to change the channel.

 

To be honest, I quit watching the coverage after the second eyewitness interview. I feel for the victims and families, but I'll wait until they've sorted everything out before I return to the subject.

There were no assualt rifles used. It was all pistols...not sure what kind though.

 

I'm not in favor of gun bans...but I am in favor of people having to pass a psych. evaluation to own one.

 

I hate to bring up things that are 'inconsistent' with the official story.

The officer specifically says we 'long rifle and shotgun'.

Gun control. I am not opposed to banning assault rifles and not opposed to keeping anyone with mental issues from getting a gun.

 

I agree 100%. I would add bulletproof vests as something else that should be banned.

I hate to bring this up but there simply is no set definition of an 'assault rifle'. Banning something that can not be defined is not a good move.

 

I think the 'definition' of an 'assualt rifle' includes:

 

Collapsible stock

A bayonet bracket (as if that is really a worry!)

Can accept multi-round magazine of a 'certain capacity'. That is really ANY rifle that accepts magazines. I think the interesting one is the 100-round drum - here.

There are things that can be done to reduce ease of access but banning something that is not really different functioning rifle from normal hunting rifles is not something that should be advocated.

Disappointing yet not surprising that some are saying this is God's way of getting back at CT for allowing gay marriage.

If you (not you specificly BGC, just in general) want to ban guns and you think that is the fix then you are mistaken. Just look at what happened in China yesterday as well. That maniac used a knife.

Agree. The acts seem to have been done with pistols.

 

I am sure I fall into the 'pro-gun' column.

 

I think we will see a lot more security measure for schools and public/government places like court houses, etc. Metal detectors, man-traps (vestibules that allow one person in at time with with only door open at a time), secretaries behind BP glass, etc. Making things illegal has never stopped them. Look at the Norway slayings.

Several shooters in these mass killing have wore bulletproof vests. Why is their a public need for them? Never seen a deer shoot back. Never heard of anyone grabbing their gun and then strapping on the vest when someone breaks into their home.

I know, I'm not blaming anyone. It's just this hits so hard with such young children and being so close to Christmas that my heart breaks for these poor families. I get cant past the horror they're living and just think that out of respect for them, everyone should kind of cool their jets for a while. Just my two cents worth.
