I wouldn't call him a loser, and the situation certainly isn't funny. I'd call him a kid that has a lot of issues. Hopefully, he will be able to get things turned around. Unfortunately, if football is in his future, he's looking at exile in JUCO land or D2 or D3 football. Football, however isn't the most important thing right now. He needs help, and needs it soon. It's a waste of talent, but let's hope he doesn't waste his life.

 

If you were a D2 or D3 coach, is there enough talent there to counteract the potential headaches and drama? I say no but only time will tell. Zeke got way too much hype for his on the field achievements and not enough for the off the field/court nonsense.

I'm just dumbfounded. I tried to stay in his corner, thinking some tough-love would help him see his mistakes. I thought maybe being the offspring of an NFL player might have been a little too much for him to measure up to. I tried to give him many benefits of the doubts but it's obvious to me football, college, and maybe family mean little to him. When you talk to him, he really doesn't seem like the kid I read about, but I'm an adult and I'm sure he's saying the right things an adult would want to hear. Lot's of people in similar situation are good at that. Sounds like he needs an intervention because if he continues on this path, we'll see him holding up a sign outside Great American Ballpark some day soon.

Maybe, maybe not. I know troubled kids have landed at lower levels in the past, and don't see any reason why Pike couldn't. I'd guess there's somebody out there willing to take a chance on him. Although, it does seem as he has spent the last year and 1/2 screwing up. He does seem like he's more trouble than the value he could bring to the field. Again, it's just sad. I've met the kid and, like Oldog said, it's hard to believe all the issues that have followed him. The good news is the family certainly has the means to get him the help he needs. At this point, it's on him. He's the only one that can give this a happy ending.

Unfortunately, there is tons of talent wasted in today's sports. Normally, if a person has had several chances and continues to make the same mistakes over and over they are often called a losers. May be a harsh statement, but that's how most see a kid that has so many advantages given to him, and keeps throwing them away because he does what he wants when he wants without thinking or caring about the consequences.

Oh lord! Someone needs some much needed help in so many ways. What's next for this kid....I say he stays out of NKY for a while. The reality is, he will run into someone that doesn't care what they say or do to him and it's not going to be good for the sayers and doers part. I'm sure we haven't heard the last from Zeke Pike in the news. At this point nothing will surprise me!

Apparently his issue is with alcohol. That does not make the kid a punk, just a young man that needs to focus on some life help instead of football for now.

I'm sure there is a small college coach that will give this kid a chance. I know he has rubbed many small college coaches in the state the wrong way at many camps, where they would try to teach him things and he would blow them off. I know at least one NAIA school that would never offer him because of his attitude. Like I said though there will be a coach that would love to have him...

His problem is with alcohol, pot, ego, personal responsibility, and making proper use of his God-given talent. If it was a single occurrence...or hell, even a single issue, then I'd agree with you. I'd agree he needs to concentrate on getting his life together, but I also think he needs to quit acting like a punk.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head...This didn't just happen overnight either. Attitude started WAY back, and he added stuff along the way. With each incident he got away with, or his parents got him out of, the limits kept getting pushed and pushed. He never did the time for the crime. There were never any punishments. What kid is not going to continue doing whatever he wants to do when he can get away with everything?

His choices are terrible and he is going to have to pay for his bad decisions now or later! However, to call him a LOSER and laugh at him makes you just as much a loser as he is! We should never laugh at or call someone else a loser! Be better than that Blue Magic.

 

He had so much potential and such a great opportunity and ruined it. Not once, but almost twice. He lost...It makes me sick to know how many kids would have given up anything to be in his position. Doesn't mean he can't turn it around. But he's taking what he has (or had) for granted. Sad...

I've not been able to find anything official either. I would have thought this would have made news.

My guess is that they're wanting to settle this internally. Especially since its been more than two weeks.
