I'm very objective, and I've often questioned the kids behavior even before his limelight status. I just don't consider him a punk. In the eyes of the criticizers every high school, college or pro athlete that repetitively makes the same badge judgement decision whether it's with alcohol, drugs, or domestic, doesn't have a problem that needs professional assistance, they're just punks. I'll accept that if that's how they're labeling it. And if that is the case, our sports world is full of punks!

I personally would never intentionally let my kid fail or fall. You can only guide them to make the right decisions and if they choose not to, intervene with the appropriate help. I'm all for extreme measures to help a young person get on and stay on the right path.

I think the kid just needs to grow up, he obviously can't handle the responsibility of being a young adult...

I'm not...but my parents did that for me, and I thank them for it.

And those comments usually come from the jealous kids and parents of what Zeke has as far as talent and what they see as undeserving opportunities. I know Zeke and his family fairly well and he often carries himself in a very mature manner and is respectful more than a lot of kids his age I know. His decision making is seriously not acceptable on any level with opportunities he's been given, but to label hm a "punk", I don't quite agree. But everyone has their own opinion. I think he has exhausted his chances at the DI-A level if this story is true.

 

Is it possible he's a Eddie Haskell? Uses all the charm and manners around adults, but let them leave the room, then look out. Sometimes, those that lay it on the thickest have to do so to cover the smell up.

 

His choices are terrible and he is going to have to pay for his bad decisions now or later! However, to call him a LOSER and laugh at him makes you just as much a loser as he is! We should never laugh at or call someone else a loser! Be better than that Blue Magic.

Regardless of what Zeke's parents or anyone else wants him to do, Zeke needs to want to change himself. Not only with Zeke but with anyone, kid or adult, you can talk all you want but if they don't decide to change, they won't improve.

 

Bottom line, he has at least one issue, if he doesn't change, he may just end up losing his life, or close to it.

Daughter (6th grade) is assigned the locker next to Mr. Pike's, unfortunately...Daughter is attempting to put her lock on her locker when Mr Pike literally snatches it out of her hand and smashes it as hard as he can into the floor. Daughter, who has never been treated in this manner, and has to pick up her jaw off of the floor, and has asolutely NO idea who he is, asks him "Why did you just do that?" His response? "Because I CAN!"... I rest my case...

This and the post above it. If the people around him don't finally play hard ball with him, unfortunately we may be reading about his untimely death.

Well, for now, at least, I'd assume he still has his full ride to Louisville intact. Also, he's legally an adult, so the only thing I'd have to hold over his head is my money. That being said, if I were his parent, I'd be telling him that he gets no money, no car, and no support unless he does ALL of the following:

1) Keeps all of his grades at a passing level.

2) Regularly goes to a counselor whom I have selected or at least agreed upon, regarding his problems with drugs, alcohol, and complete lack of personal responsibility.

3) Take and pass a drug test every two or three weeks until I determine he doesn't have to anymore.

4) Supply me with reliable proof that he's attending a church service at least once a week.

 

And take a good look at the crowd/enablers he's been hanging with.

A problem and he wont change unless someone intervenes and gets him some help.

 

He is a grown man he has to help himself. Maybe I'm old school on this one but I don't feel sorry for anyone that does this. You are a grown man you make your own decisions and judgements. I'm sure his family has probably tried to get him help but after reading this and all of his other off the field issues he will never get help unless he does it himself. One day he will wake up and relize what kind of talent he had and wasted.

Very much possible but he keeps getting busted so his true colors are shining. It's all about perception and the more negative things we read about him the greater negative perception we all will have. If I read where he was working with inner city kids in Louisville through a youth group or something then I may feel different. Kid thinks he's entitled and much of his problems likel lie in the fact that he was allowed to display poor behavior at a young age and got away with it. Sadly, these types can't function in society when they become adults and the law generally becomes involved.

He actually repeated 7th grade. I believe his 8th grade year resulted in the Boone County schools refusing to play Turkey Foot in basketball because of him.
