That would be the worst possible hire. Guy hasn't proven anything IMO.

I have my doubts about his ability to do that.

He is coaching them out of another bowl bid. Blew another late lead Saturday and in danger of finishing with just six wins, which doesn't guarantee a bowl bid in the Sun Belt

I guess we just read the info differently. To each his own. GT has been right more than wrong in stuff like this. I welcome any of his info and it will always maintain credibility with me.

Mitch has had contact with people for weeks. If they're down to Jones then a lot of people said no. Jones is not the home run hire but he is the safe settling hire. He's better than Joker and will bring in assistants better than what Joker brought in. Will he survive at UK I don't know, he will prob win 4-6 games a year after he settles in. Is that good enough for UK? I do see Jones leaving at some point, UC is a stepping stone job. It's just the reality of reality. If UK is to him and Jones wants the money and daunting challenge he's headed to Lextown, but I think he has a safe steady future at UC for the time being and near future. Very risky career move going to UK.

Butch was one of the first names contacted, and the answer was no. UK called back after the realignment stuff broke over the weekend and there was at least some willingness to listen at that point. Still think the answer is the same as it was two weeks ago, but the landscape is shifting quickly once again...

As of today, I think Jones and UK are close to consummating a deal.

The pending collapse of the Big East will play a role in this.

I would welcome Jones with open arms.
